Ford Mustang Review: a report from Autoportal.com

The American firm, Ford, already popular in India, through its cars like Figo, Fiesta, Aspire, Endeavour and EcoSport, is getting ready for the launch of Mustang, a sleek coupe, almost resembling a sports car, which is already famous all over the world. The date of launch of Mustang in India is expected to be in February 2016.

Price

Ford is expected to tag this car within a price range of 45-60 lakhs, though the colors, in which it will be sold, are yet to be decided.

Engine, transmission, mileage

Though the Mustang is sold, world over, in 10 variants, here it is expected to be sold in a single variant. Ford Mustang, in India, is expected to be fitted with a powerful 3720 cc, 3.7 liter Ti-VCT, V6 motor, which has a capacity to churn out power at 305 bhp and torque at 380 Nm. The engine is expected to be linked in two ways - to a 6-speed manual transmission as well as 6-speed automatic transmission. The Mustang is expected to deliver a mileage of 7 km/l in city limits and 11 km/l on highways.

Interior

As far as the cabin of the Mustang is concerned, it seems to exude class and comfort, in equal proportions. The seats are made of the finest quality leather, where the customers are given an option of getting it personalized, with contrast stitching, and the rear seats are foldable in the 50:50 ratio, increasing boot space, when necessary. The dashboard is made of the top quality plastic and there is liberal use of chrome, to enhance the royal feel of the car. The power steering wheel is leather-covered, showing elegance. The driver seat is power-height adjustable and many comfort features and accessories, like all power one touch windows, cozy lighting for the interiors, giving a comfortable ambience, illuminated vanity mirrors, power-foldable outside rear view mirrors, with indicators, sun visors, armrest with utility storage space, auto dimming mirrors and automatic climate control, are all incorporated into the cabin. The steering wheel has controls mounted on it, and the center console is also incorporated with information and entertainment system.

Exteriors

When viewed for the first time, the Mustang gives out a feel of a sports car, with its most striking feature being the specialized design of the grille, almost frowning. The prominent, but surprisingly small lines on the bonnet signify aristocracy. Powerful HID headlights, with turn indicators and a chrome finished pony badge, showing its brand, all of them bring style to the front fascia. Large 17-inch colored aluminum wheels look fabulous as do the smart LED tail lights, tinted window glass, deck spoiler and the stainless steel coated twin exhaust pipes at the rear.
