Every year, we attend a variety of different events. They could be fundraisers, conferences, tradeshows, festivals or something else entirely. When attending these events, have you noticed that many others in attendance seem to be wearing promotional tee shirts? There are a number of ways that you can use shirts to further promote the event itself or other aspects of the day; we have outlined just some of these in the list below.

Identify those working on the event

Whether you have employed staff to work the event or you’re dealing with volunteers, giving them a shirt to wear can help attendees identify who to speak with if they have a problem. It also means that those working can walk straight into restricted areas, as they are easily identifiable by what they’re wearing. Often, the front of the garment will be emblazoned with the event name.

Identify those with specific jobs

Shirts can also be used to help attendees identify what sort of job the staff or volunteer are performing at the event. Those with "security" emblazoned across their chests can be approached if someone has an issue; those who "first aid" written across their backs can be approached if someone hurts themselves; and those wearing shirts with a stall name on them are clearly running an area of the event.

Hand them out to attendees

Depending on the event, promotional tee shirts can be given out to all attendees upon purchase of their ticket or upon arrival at the venue. In this case, the garment is worn to identify those who are looking enough to be in attendance. It can also help attendees to identify those who are working the event, as they will be wearing a different outfit altogether (which can help them to stand out more).

Hand them out as a reward or prize

Again, depending on the nature of the event, shirts can be given out to attendees once they complete a challenge or if they win a competition. This is popular with more athletic events, such as marathons and fun runs – attendees receive a garment once they cross the finish line, which they can wear to tell others that they did it. When the garment is framed as a special prize, it also makes them more attractive.

Promote the event before it starts

Finally, the shirts can be worn by staff and volunteers prior to the event kicking off as a way of promoting it. They could set up a stall in a local shopping centre or busy strip of shops where they can hand out flyers and other information. They could walk around buys or popular areas, just getting the name of the event out there. They could go door to door, sharing information with homeowners.

We hope that the information provided in this article has shown you how you can use promotional tee shirts at your next event for the greatest success. Whether you plan on handing them out to those helping to run the event or to some of the attendees, there are a number of things to keep in mind to ensure that your shirts have the greatest impact possible. Just be sure that you have designed the right sort of shirt for the event.
