A Spring Challenge - Freshen Up Your House
Posted: Feb 10, 2016
It won’t be a wild guess to say that many of us would want to just sweep the room with a glance. Unfortunately, we do not have such powers, yet. Getting through a giant list of "to-do" for your spring cleaning, while having a busy life, can be quite daunting. However, if do not want to miss the adventure this spring, you can make a list with the most urgent tasks. Focus your energy there and think of this activity as a way to purify yourself.
Prioritise and OrganiseFirstly, you can start with all the unnecessary items you own and even the slightest personal attachment to them should not discourage you from throwing them away. The less stuff you have, the more your house will look cleaner and you will make yourself a favour - there will be less items in your way when cleaning surfaces. A good idea is to donate all the items you don’t need in your home. And why not make it a family activity? The other members of the household will be responsible for cleaning their own drawers, closets and cupboards.
Secondly, you may want to focus on cleaning the rugs and the upholstery. Any stains, food particles and other debris left on them can create a breeding ground for bacteria. If not maintained well this can easily become a health problem and cause allergies in the house, and probably you do not wish to buy new rugs and furniture every year. To start cleaning the textile, consider first to launder all small items, afterwards begin with the larger rugs. Sometimes, if you do not have the proper equipment or haven’t had the opportunity to clean by yourself the carpet, it is best to consider the help of a professional carpet cleaning company. These types of companies can clean the drapery and upholstery in no time using steam cleaners that are specially designed to be safe for such materials.
Vacuum all the places in the house, even the ones you let yourself sometimes to skip.
Green CleanTry to use as many natural cleansers as possible, while mopping, wiping the counters, etc. Sometimes the chemical found in the detergents can be more dangerous that the dirt they are meant to clean. Look for alternatives that can perform as good as the ones on the market. Open the window to let fresh air in and the bad odours out.
If you do not have much time to deal with all the housekeeping or just hate having to clean the refrigerator, a great way to do it is just by putting coffee grounds in it. Coffee is known for absorbing bad odours, so just place them in a bowl inside the fridge for a day or two. Of course, you can use this trick to deodorize anything and save up some time to do something else.
A Long-Lasting ExperienceWindows should be cleaned at least twice a year, but not many people look forward to it. Despite of that, when you find an easy way to do it, it does not have to be such a tremendous task. The key to it is not to use the traditional paper towels or newspapers and a spray cleaner. It only moves the dirt around from one spot to another, moreover, it puts static charge on the glass which attracts more dirt and dust. As soon as you have finished washing the windows, they will start looking dirty again.
The more natural and less expensive way to clean them is just with an antibacterial cloth, toothbrush, soap, and water. Nonetheless, feel free to adjust as necessary as you need. After you have washed all the windows in your house, make sure you haven’t forgot to clean the windows tracks too. Dip a Q-tip in vinegar and wipe out the dirt. Run it along from one end to the other and after that wipe with paper towel. However, if you are running out of time or just want to sit and relax, consider using the services of a local company that provides all types of efficient domestic cleaning. They will do the work with competence and surely, the glass surface will look cleaner for longer.
Be PreparedThe peak challenges are the bathroom and the kitchen. Almost everyone would want to skip this part, but it is actually the most important. In both cases you would want to remove everything around the sinks. In the bathroom, if the curtains are from cloth - take them down and wash them in the washing machine and after that leave them to dry outside. If they are made from plastic, you can easily spray them with a cleaner detergent and wait a few minutes, afterwards wipe it with a sponge. Disinfect the sink, garbage cans and the recycle bins. Nothing says spring like the fresh smelling home. Make sure to open a window to ventilate the area with fresh air.
The basic items you will need to clean the kitchen are as simple as that - hand soap, paper towels, dish soap, lemon, soda, white vinegar.
Use bicarbonate to eliminate grease in sinks and surfaces. You only need just to sprinkle it on a damp cloth. It will soften the hard water and the grime will fall off easily. Surely, cleaning the oven is the most miserable task, but with salt, soda and enough vinegar to make a spreadable paste, you will remove gunk in no time.
When you maintain your property, virtually you are prolonging the life of the items you own. Furthermore, you are providing a cleaner and healthier home for you family. It is not a hard task to do, than it is more time consuming. A perfect time to motivate yourself is during the National Spring Cleaning Week, which this year is between 14th and 20th of March. Every home needs at least one big cleaning a year and why not do it in the spring?
