Hygiene and good health go hand in hand, which is why we try to keep our home and cars as clean as possible. However, there’s one place where our hygiene is limited to keeping our hands clean, the workplace. Personal hygiene should be practiced at the workplace too because you spend most of your time there and it makes no sense to keep your home clean when you’re inviting illnesses at the office.

Here are few tips to help you get started.

1. Don’t eat at your desk

A huge number of employees have admitted to eating lunch/snacks at their desks. No matter how busy or lazy you are always avoid making this mistake. Most modular office furniture is easy to clean but that does not mean you can eat at your desk and clean it later. This behavior invites many insects and with them several illnesses.

2. Pantry etiquette

Not everyone is concerned about their health as much as you are and it’s not surprising to find unclean mugs in the office pantry. The solution to this is to carry your own coffee or tea mug and clean it twice a day. This way there will be fewer chances of falling prey to germs.

3. Ventilation facilities

Ensure that your office has adequate ventilation which supplies clean and fresh air throughout the day. This helps keep a number of infectious airborne viruses at bay and provides clean, germ-free air.

4. Travel size toiletries

Disasters can happen anywhere and the workplace is no exception. Spilling coffee right before an important meeting is a dreadful dream that can become a reality. Avoiding the disaster may not be in your hands but you can always be ready for it. Desks that are a part of modular office furniture collections have inbuilt drawers where you can keep an extra shirt, deodorant, hairbrush, adhesive bandages. These will be helpful in case of emergency and also to keep yourself and the surroundings clean.

5. Wash your hands

Most germs pass into your mouth and onto your face through your hands therefore it’s essential to wash your hands every once in a while. It’s best to keep your nails short but if you have long nails then pay special attention to them while washing your hands. Keep a sanitizes handy for times when you can’t wash your hands, however, don’t make this a habit.
