15 Wedding Gowns We’ll Never Forget
Posted: Feb 23, 2016
As TV fans we love a nothing more than a good wedding episode. They bring romance and drama…and if we’re very lucky, an amazing dress!
Whether it’s traditional or contemporary, elegant or quirky, lace or newspaper (yes, we said newspaper!), the wedding attire says a a lot about the bride.
Some of these ceremonies ended with a couple experiencing wedded bliss while other couples never made it down the aisle but they all have one thing in common…a wedding dress we'll always remember.
Check out our 15 Wedding Gowns We’ll Never Forget.
1. Kate Beckett - Castle
Kate has been dressed in three different wedding outfits on Castle. First it was the silver beaded gown with the puffy tulle skirt that somehow even made her hips look big, The last was the pant suit that she wore when she actually married Rick, but our favorite was the dress for the wedding that wasn't. The dress, designed by Alberta Ferretti, was supposed to be Kate's mother, Johanna Beckett's dress, so it held special meaning to fans. Why "The Powers That Be" on Castle would choose to drench the $12,000 gown and not have our heroine get married in it is a mystery we may never solve.
2. Claire Randall - Outlander
The wedding was about marriage, not romance but that doesn't mean they skimped on the gown! No one wore white for their wedding in 18th century Scotland, so Claire's dress is metallic silver. There are literally bands of metal woven into the embroidery. We'd say that show costume designer Terry Dresbach out did herself.
3. Leslie Knope - Parks and Recreation
Leslie Knope's wedding gown wasn't ready in time for her surprise wedding to Ben. (What kind of a seamstress doesn't finish the dress months ahead of schedule, just because?!) Luckily, quick thinking sunfish Ann Perkins came to the rescue with just the right idea: she used newspaper clippings that highlighted Leslie's political career to create an awesome one-of-a-kind wedding gown for a one-of-a-kind woman!
4. Dr. Temperance Brennan - Bones
When Booth and Brennan finally tied the knot, they did it right! Bones wore a gown made of re-embroidered lace from Legends by Romona Keveza. It's from the designer's Spring 2013 collection and featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, flowing circle skirt, and chapel-length train made of French net. The bride and the gown were truly gorgeous.
5. Emily Thorne - Revenge
Yes, the wedding may have been a part of her plot for revenge but no one can say that Emily Thorne didn't make a beautiful bride... in no small part because her wedding gown was spectacular. Although the dress looked as though it came straight from a high-end boutique, the tulle peplum gown with scalloped lace was created by the show’s costume designer, Jill Ohannesson.
6. Blair Waldorf - Gossip Girl
Having been married before, Blair Waldorf chose not to wear traditional white but no one can say she didn’t look absolutely stunning. When Chuck and Blair finally got married, she chose an incredible blue custom Elie Saab dress and gem-encrusted headband.
7. Mary Morstan - Sherlock
Mary Morstan and John Watson certainly had their dramatic moments as they attempted to get to the altar, mostly due to Watson's best man, Sherlock. But in the end, Mary tied the knot in a stunning, vintage inspired, lace dress by Jane Bourvis along with a lovely floral headpiece. Not even Sherlock letting it slip that the bride was expecting could ruin the beautiful day.
8. Jasmine Trussell - Parenthood
When Jasmine finally married Crosby, her wedding attire was more bohemian and budget conscience but that didn't make it any less lovely. Her wedding dress was from J. Crew and was coupled with a cardigan and a daisy chain headband. The entire look gave a simple elegance to their beautiful backyard ceremony.
9. Charlotte York - Sex and the City
So many things went wrong on Charlotte and Harry's wedding day but two things were perfect…the couple and the dress! Charlotte wore a stunning Badgley Mischka gown with gentle embroidery and fluttery off-the-shoulder sleeves. It was fit for a princess which made it the perfect dress for Charlotte.
10. Lady Rose - Downton Abbey
This extraordinary gown was actually found by the show's costume designer, Anna Mary Scott Robbins in a little shop in London. It had been kept in a box. It was a hundred year old dress that had never been worn! To the beautiful beading on silk tulle they added an underdress of ivory and buttery silks. Talk about a fairy tale ending!
11. Monica Gellar - Friends
We love it when friends get married. We love it even more when they wear a beautiful wedding gown when they do it. Monica wore a classic fit-to-flare A-line dress. It was a sleeveless gown with double v-neck and no waist princess seams. It was the epitome of modern elegance. Unfortunately the designer, House of Bianchi, closed down the year Monica and Chandler tied the knot which is a horrible shame because we'd love to see more.
12. Pam Beesly - The Office
When we all attended Jim and Pam's wedding, it was a joyous moment. Pam glowed, partly because she was pregnant but also due to her flowing chiffon, empire waisted gown with spaghetti straps. It was simple but beautiful.
