LED Tube Lights - A New Way to lighten your Home!
Posted: Mar 02, 2016
A light-emitted diode (LED) product is assembled into a lamp (or tube light bulb) for use in lighting its fixtures. LED tube lights have a lifespan and electrical efficiency which are many times longer than other bulbs, and extensively more efficient than fluorescent lamps. LEDs are having chips which enable to emit more than 100 lumens per watt.
The LED project’s market is day by day growing very fast. LED tube lights are made to be a directly compatible drop-in replacement for luminous or fluorescent lighting is also reduced by frequent switching on and off. Most LEDs do not release light in all directions, and their directional characteristics directly affect the design of lamps, although unidirectional lamps which radiate light over 360 degree angles. The single LED’s light output is lesser than that of incandescent and compact fluorescent lamps, in most of the cases, multiple LED’s are used to form up a lamp, although high-power versions are available in the market.
HOW DOES LED WORK?
LED chips require controlled DC (Direct Current) electrical power and require an appropriate circuit to convert alternating current from the providing to the synchronized low voltage direct current used by the LED. High temperatures adversely affect LEDs. So, LED lamps normally include heat rakishness elements such as heat sinks and cooling fans.
OVERVIEW OF LED TECHNOLOGY:
White light is required for general purpose lighting. LEDs emit light in a very narrow band of wavelengths. To emit white light from LEDs require either integration light from red, green, and yellow LEDs, or using a phosphor to convert some of the light to various colours.
LED CANDLE BULBS:
A light-emitted diode bulb is a solid-state lighting (SSL) device which completely fits in standard screw-in connections but uses LED’s to generate light. LED bulbs are very attractive and more environment- friendly alternative to luminous bulbs. Like radiant lamps and unlike most fluorescent lamps, LEDs give full brightness not including the need for a warm-up time. The life of fluorescent lighting reduces by frequent switching on and off which does not happen in LEDs. However, the initial cost of LED is higher. LED’s packaging material and degradation of LED dye reduce light output to some extent over the time.
LED bulbs can be used in conjunction with a phosphor. The colour rendering index (CRI) value can vary from 70 to 90, and colour temperatures in the range of 3000K to 7000K are available.
LAMP SIZE: LED lamps are made from SME modules that replaced incandescent of compact fluorescent light bulbs, mostly replacing fluorescent bulbs of 5 to 60 watts. Such lamps are made with standard light bulb connections and shapes. LED bulbs have replaces higher wattage bulbs. For e.g. A 20 watt LED bulb is as bright as a 150 w halogen lamp. Some models of LED bulbs are compatible with dimmers as used for incandescent lamps. LED lamps often have directional light characteristics. The cost of LED lamps has been declined gradually.
