Let's burst the myth. Teeth brackets or braces are not only for teenagers. You are never to old to wear braces. There's no age to correct your teeth and beautify your smile.

According to a recent research in America, about on million Americans above the age of 18 years use dental brackets.

Now the question arises, why should one use mental braces? Some adults as children haven't recieved dental treatments. Braces are actually needed for correcting teeth deformations like crooked teeth, overbites, underbites, incorrect jaw positions or jaw joint disorders. When these problems are ignored or left untreated, may result into tooth decay, gum disease, headaches, earaches. Chewing problems, speech problems or biting problems may also be the result of these deformations.

In adults, the benefits of braces will be the same as in children. However, it may take longer in adults to get the teeth in the right shape.

Metal Brackets:

Metal brackets in orthodontics are made of stainless steel. There are various types of metal brackets available to meet various needs and systems. They are generally made with 0.002 mm precise error with milling technology. They are generally low friction with low nickel titanium. The high polish surface avoids any uncomfortableness during the use.

Ceramic Brackets:

Ceramic brackets in orthodontics have been introduced in 1986 and since their introduction, have become quite popular. Ceramic braces can actually be quite a better alternative to metal braces if your dentist recommends them. Contrary to the myth, they don't stain easily and comparatively less visible than the metal braces. They are less painful as they don't irritate the gums. The shelf life is long since they don't chip or break unless otherwise they are badly used.

Sapphire Brackets:

Sapphire braces are very clear braces which are generally recommended for people with very white teeth. Basically, these braces blend very well with the teeth and almost disappear into them. They are very strong as compared to metal and ceramic braces and do not stain easily.

Orthodontic Arch Wires:

Orthodontic arch wires are a significant revolution in orthodontic mechanotherapy. They have significantly developed since the last 20 years. They have developed from gold, nickel and now they are also available in stainless steel now. The dental archwires are generally used in the alignment of impacted premolars.

The archwire is held in place with the teeth with an elastic tie that comes in many different colors. They come in many different sizes and materials.
