JEE- Main is the gateway to almost all the colleges in India for engineering programs. Also, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their mains score for JEE- Advanced. JEE- Main 2015 was held on 10th and 11th April, 2015. The exam was held in both online and offline mode. Around 13 lakh students appeared for the exam. Here’s the paper analysis of JEE- Main 2015.

The paper consisted of three sections- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Overall the paper was of moderate difficulty level. The questions were objective type and each question carried four marks. 1 mark was deducted for every incorrect answer, however, no marks was deducted for unattempted questions. There were 90 questions in total and the total mark of the paper was 360.

The physics paper was toughest among the three sections. The questions were very tricky. There were total 30 questions in this section out of which only 5 questions were theory based. The rest 25 questions were numerical and they were quiet time consuming. Although if one was very familiar with the formulae’s and tables, it took them comparatively less time than the others. According to the experts, the questions in this section were very ambiguous. This then increased the difficulty level of the questions and the section.

The Mathematics section was very lengthy according to the examinees. It had good mix of questions from all the topics. But, some students complained of errors in this sections which is very unlikely considering that JEE- Main is considered as the most prestigious exam for engineering candidates. The questions were not too difficult or tricky.

The Chemistry section was quiet easy to solve. It was not at all time consuming as almost all the questions were fact based. If the candidate was well aware of the concepts and theories it was an easy task for them.

This year the exam is scheduled to be held on 3rd April, 2016 (offline paper) and on 9th and 10th April, 2016 (Online paper). The paper this time is also expected to be of moderate level. But, the easiness of the chemistry section is not expected to be retained. This year, the Chemistry paper too is expected to be a little time taking, while the Mathematics section is expected to be a little tricky.
