I love my job because it takes me to places I would never get to see. This week I’m traveling to Sydney, Australia and I am very much looking forward to my trip. I have been in conference with our sister company in Sydney and it seems that we are having our first meeting at a Vietnamese restaurant. It is a meet and greet for all of the new company partners. It looks like I’ll be hitting the ground running the minute I get there.

As soon as I get off of the plane, a car takes me to the best Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney. It is a comfortable restaurant with sort of a classic rustic atmosphere. There is a nice patio to sit outside and eat in the fresh air. The paintings on the wall are lovely to look at while I wait for my coworkers to arrive. When my coworkers start to arrive we are all seated. I order a homemade lemonade and open the menu to see what looks good.

As I scan the menu I almost can’t decide on what dish I want to start with because everything looks so good. I choose to start with butter fried corn. I was inquisitive what others recommend or what they are ordering. Some of them tell me to get the stir fried beef with peas and pineapple. Another person says that the stir fried seafood combo is the best. However, I hear several people ordering salads, fried rice, and even fried noodles. I know that I want dessert so I decide to order a vegetarian meal. It’s called a clay pot mushroom and tofu dinner. It has mushrooms, marinated tofu, coconut juice, and soy sauce. On the side I add a bowl of vegetable fried rice. Satisfied with my order I put the menu aside and join the conversation.

When the food arrives the conversation dies down as we all indulge in this delicious Vietnamese meal. I can’t believe how good the fried corn is. When my mushroom pot arrives I’m pleasantly surprised. The Vietnamese dish is like nothing I’ve ever had before; for me, that makes a meal good. I like to try new things when I’m traveling. The vegetable fried rice was a nice complement to the rich mushrooms and tofu. Finally, for dessert, I want to try banana fritters with ice cream and hot cup of Vietnamese coffee to finish off the meal.

Overall the meal was the best I’ve had in a long time. I had no idea that I was going to be able to find the best Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney. The food was hot and fresh, the atmosphere was inviting and comfortable and the customer service was professional. Our business meet and greet went well and I think that everyone went home satisfied that the entire evening was a success.
