Mold Abatement - How to Safely Get Rid of Mold in Your Building

The first step in appropriate mold abatement process is to ensure that you have all of the protective kit that you will need so you do not get unwell from the mold or mildew. You must have a good set of protective goggles that do not have any air holes. This is critical as you do not want the mold spores to get into your eyes through these holes. You will also need a high-quality pair of rubber gloves and a full face mask. It is advisable to use a biohazard suit kit. You can buy all these things from any safety store.

The next step is to identify and control the mold or mildew infected area. After assessment and identification of the area, you need to close off the area from ceiling to floor with plastic sheets so you can restrain any mold spores that go airborne upon cleaning. When this is completed, it is time to start killing the mildew.

Check the area that is contaminated with the mold and see if there is another source for this infestation. Sometimes it could be a leakage from water pipe or something like that. If that is the case, fix the problem first and then address the mold issue later.

Once you have restricted it and taken care of the possible outside cause or source of problem, you can perform mold abatement in the contaminated area. You can start by either preparing a homemade mold killing remedy or by using a fungicide. Spray the area down and allow the spray to work its magic for some days.

Once the mildew has been killed with the proper treatment, you can clean up the surface as much as possible. To do this, you can use a solution of warm water and a Borax-Based detergent. Borax is a natural born killer for mold growth. Once you have cleaned the area, spray it down again with your homemade mixture or fungicide.

Now it is time to clean out the rest of the place. Scrub the area from top to bottom to make sure that you get any mold that may have gone airborne during the initial cleaning process. Then take all waste materials and covers and place them in a plastic garbage bag and immediately throw them away.

Once you have completed these steps, you should not have much of a problem as long as you stay on top of it. Mold or mildew removal New York never really completely expires, but you can control it with constant monitoring and care. If you ever let up, you will end up having a mold issue again and that is something that you definitely don’t want to go through again.
