Posted: Mar 16, 2016
With every passing day, the numbers of mobile users are expanding, which is probably a hint for the developers/website owners to go mobile. The e-store brands are moving to mobile with the sole aim to provide a blissful experience to their client base. According to reports, the main reason e-retailers are switching to apps is due to a majority of the traffic comes from mobile devices. Yes, this is true that around 70-80% traffic is through mobile but we can’t deny the fact that the website users are also equally important in order to reach more people. The decision of launching an app isn’t a bad one but considering the fact that still there aren’t 100% people who prefer shopping through an app. There is a wide range of audience who prefer buying stuff through laptops or desktops.

People prefer using websites when it comes to online payments, which minimizes the traffic on apps that prefer laptops over apps for online transactions.
Retailers can minimize their running cost by shutting down the website as a majority of the traffic is through mobile, but we can’t deny the fact that there are still 20-30% people in space who would love to buy goods via laptops ahead of the apps. And, moving completely onto app-only version will rule out the possibility to tap those customers.
There is a good section of audience that prefer searching on search engines, although on mobile browser for their desired products, but they tend to land on a particular website through a search conducted on Google, Yahoo, Bing (search engines) etc. as it yields them ample choices to explore, compare, choose and finally buy the product. If the retailer has shut down the website, there won’t be results on the search engine result page (SERP) eliminating the chance of converting the potential buyers into real customers.
Hence, E-Commerce Application Development demands both, a mobile app for engagement and loyal customers and a responsive version of the existing website, which would help in increasing the traffic via search engines that would invite new customers to join the league of existing ones.
