The Anarkali suit made up of a long, frock-style top, slim fitted bottom and desirably styled, is adored by women in India, Pakistan and The Middle East. Varying in lengths, adorned with choice embroidery, the designer kurta is named after the fictitious courtesan Anarkali of Mughal-e-Azam.

The Anarkali suit is made up of a long, frock-style top and features a slim fitted bottom. The Anarkali is an extremely desirable style Kurta adored by women located in India, Pakistan and The Middle East. It varies in lengths, features exquisite embroidery and includes specialties like floor length style. It is the uniquely styled designer kurta akin to the kameez that is in focus and coupled with a salwar and accompanied by a stylish dupatta, it becomes an Anarkali suit.

There is delightful variety and variation. A choice of necks, from round, square, V, U, with light, embroidery or plain, a whole host of vibrant colours and pleasing hues, with options of sleeves, no sleeves, half sleeves and three fourth sleeves, and styles like double layered, tail cut, the Anarakali kurta is indeed an endearing choice for most women in India.

Exotic Batik, designer block prints, floral spreads or geometrical patterns, this ethnic Indian garment for women has always been delightfully attractive. A canvas of up to knee length there is ample scope for adornment. Designer necks, floral arrangements, exquisite embroidery, attractive borders and many other novel ideas find their way to this canvas to beautify and sensationalize.

There are however different styling techniques that make them look elegant and captivating. Borders could be plain, single coloured, multi-coloured or with embroidery, finery etc.

Anarkali suits owe their name to the fictional Anarkali, a courtesan in the court of Mughal emperor Akbar who was legendarily murdered for her illicit relationship with the Crown Prince. This is since, a timeless style that has become popular.

The Anarkali has been likened to similar styles of suit displays in the women’s Firaq partug (frock and shalwar) of North Western Pakistan and Afghanistan, the traditional women’s Central Asian clothing of parts of Central Asia, the Anga of the Punjab region and the Peshwaz worn in Jammu.

The Pakistani salwar suit originally was made from good quality long staple cotton and with the kurta slightly longer (upto the ankles) than the Anarkali suit, also finds favour with women in India with its adapted styling suits. Known for its artistic designs and embroidery, the Pakistani styled suits today carry very many attractive variations in neck styling, sleeve formats from sleeveless to full length sleeves, neck designs and fastening methods, borders, current day designs etc.

There is a new line of designer wear in Anarkali and Pakistani style suits with some innovations that are fairly unique and captivatingly attractive. Introduced by Unnati Silks there is an accent on pure handlooms in cotton, silk, blends, art silk and other envisaged materials in the near future. There is variety of length and sleeves which widen the range, an array of beautiful shapes and sizes of neck to suit tastes, especially with artistic embroidery and fastening formats to accentuate the look.

Fields plain, colored with floral designs, other colorful patterns and matching or contrast borders with their embroidery or colored stripes or bands serve to achieve heightened effects. The many judiciously chosen hues are combined beautifully with the processed dyes also providing good adhesion and thereby durability.

Some of the floral designer Pakistani styled suits are brightly hued with classy embroidered motifs, with plain or lightly adorned designer backs that display elegance and allure.

Anarkalis are one of the latest in designer fashion, a rage in the current for those eye-catching styles for exclusive occasions, a canvas that offers plenty of scope for experimentation.
