The wedding cards in India have come across a long way. They were started in 19th century and now have been transformed to match the trend and style of the today’s generation. However, knowing the history of anything is quite fascinating.

Have you ever wondered how the wedding invitations have come to play? Did you ever try to know the history of wedding cards? Well, Indians should be thankful to the British people as they gave us the idea in 19th century. Printing of cards was initially adopted by merchants, landlords and Indian royalty people who were curious in sharing the etiquettes and practices. In the starting days the cards were of Victorian style.

It was the time of maharajas and they did not wanted to leave any moment to impress the British. Then came the era of 1990s where the nation was given a name as contemporary India. The Indian wedding cards design was more innovate with different styles of presentation, materials printing and packages. The size of the card also increased. Various formats came in to the market such as wedding cards in box style, book format, scroll cards, creative shape, and other multiple folding. This was the time when ceremonies like Sangeet, Mehendi and Haldi were also included in the wedding cards.

Finally, it was 2000s when Bollywood inspired the country and the wedding cards came with themes, embellishments, glitters and of various other styles. In the coming years, the cards can witness more creations and will impress everyone to the core. All we have to do is run parallel with the trends and incorporate new styles in the wedding cards.
