Even A Personal Financial Planner Can Practice Social Entrepreneurship
Posted: Mar 22, 2016
There are many entrepreneurs who are involved in religious activities as well. Whether it is about simply visiting a church, once every week and make huge donations and contributions there, or participating in various religious activities that take place, there are many different ways through which a person can follow his or her faith. There are organizations like the church outreach ministry or Gary Whetstone ministries which engage the services of various people who have complete faith and want to do something for the lord on this earth. Thus, even if you are a personal financial planner, or engaged in any other business, you can still become a part of the World Harvest Church or Gary Whetstone ministries and practice social entrepreneurship.
A personal financial planner who is engaged in social entrepreneurship will be someone who would be involved in social activities and some of the characteristics of these activities are as those mentioned below:
Solving Social Problems
Any Personal Financial Planner, who is a part of any religious group like the World Harvest Church or the Gary Whetstone ministries, and wants to follow social entrepreneurship, will take up one or more social causes and make all the possible efforts to eradicate that social evil from the society. The ultimate aim of these people is to create social value. These people would engage in finding new and innovative solutions for the various social problems which have been plaguing our society for a very long time.
Profits Are Just A Part Of The Drive
Although, this does not mean that these entrepreneurs are not interested in making profit, but they try to keep their profit objectives separate from those activities which they engage in for the promotion of faith and religion. Thus, a single person would be involved in two or more different businesses, some of which may be profit oriented, while others would be strictly on non-profit basis.
Performance Measured Differently
In a normal world or business, when we have to judge whether a particular activity undertaken was successful or not, we simply calculate the amount of money or profit that activity earned for us, and if the profits are good, the activity is said to be successful. Profits are the accepted measure of success in our society. However, when it comes to measuring the performance of a social entrepreneur, it is very important that in addition to monetary profits and returns, we also take into account the positive effect the activity had on our society. Measuring this effect may not be possible in any literal terms and therefore, one would have to use their own personal scales and decide whether the activity was able to create the intended social awareness against a particular social evil or not, if it was able to create that awareness, the performance of the social entrepreneur can be said to be successful.
Social entrepreneurship is something which is done in order to further the cause of social, cultural and environmental goals of a society and can be practiced in both profit as well as non-profit organizations.
