"From the beginning of the human race, stories have been used –by priests, by bards, by medicine men– as magic instruments of healing, of teaching, as a means of helping people come to terms with the fact that they continually have to face insoluble problems and unbearable realities." - Joan Aiken

These are the words that greet you as you enter Beth Lord’s webpage, a therapist and writer who invites you to share your stories with her so that she can help you create a book. This way, your stories never die; they last forever in your memory and the memories of those who read your book.

Beth has worked with all sorts of people who have an infinite variety of stories. She has dealt with heartbreak, with loss, with inspiration and success. She has worked with families who wish to remember the stories of a lost loved one, with old ones who wish to remember their past and pass it on for their children and grandchildren to keep, and with people who want to share the struggles of their youth and all the obstacles and motivations that lead to their achievements.

Why has she done all this, you ask? Well, she believes that sharing stories through conversation can lead to peace, healing and growth, and she wants to help others be satisfied and happy. Through her many years of experience as a therapist, she has learned that the one thing many people need is a little push and someone to listen, in order to feel connected and remove those mental blocks that prevent them from revealing their true feelings. And this is, sometimes, the only way to start over and rewrite your story for the years to come.

Beth offers one-on-one sessions via phone, Skype and FaceTime, in which she listens and supports those who want to share their stories. Her positive and caring tone is a great deal of help when it comes to opening up. Her objective is to find the core, the heart of your story beyond your words, and to reveal it to you. She also looks to bring out the effects of your story in your thoughts, your emotions and your body. To do this, she responds to your words along the session with questions about your feelings, such as:

  • Is the story energizing you?
  • Is it stressing you out?
  • Does it make you feel frightened?
  • Angry or sad?

She works as a guide for you to discover all these things you were hiding within yourself that shaped you and make you who you are. From that, she creates your story, as wonderful and inspiring as it can be.

So, what are you waiting for? If you have a story to tell, Turn my story into a book and check out http://www.bethlord.com/ for more information about her sessions. "I’m excited to be here with you right now. I’m so glad you found me, and I hope I can be helpful to you in recording your stories or providing therapeutic and healing support. Time goes by fast. We forget the many stories that flavor our life with love, hope, courage, spirit and passion" – Beth Lord
