If you are a beginner runner, you will likely make a few mistakes from the type of gear you wear and bring along to the type of terrain you run on. Fortunately, you can minimize your mistakes and, thus, maximize the benefits of your runs by wearing the right gear and bringing along the right accessories. Here are four of the top iPhone running accessories that you should have – and you don’t have to worry as most of these are worthwhile investments (i.e., good value for your money).

Slim Clip Case

Your iPhone is one of your best friends, so to speak, in your daily life so it makes sense to protect it while running. Your best investment then is a slim clip case, a durable and beautiful case for your smartphone – light enough to be strapped to your clothes yet durable enough to withstand hours of training on the road or on the treadmill.

The bottom line: You can take your iPhone on your runs! This is important because it will likely contain your iPhone training apps, which track your training progress; monitor your mileage, pace, and speed; and even provide your GPS location. You want your iPhone on your runs, too, for fast and easy communication in case of untoward incidents.

Clothes and Shoes

While the iPhone fitness apps on your smartphone are great for your training, you should also be conscious about your training gear. A few of the most important are:

  • Running shorts and singlet – or pants and shirt for colder days – are a must but be sure to choose clothes that minimize chaffing and maximize moisture wicking. Cotton clothes are not the best for running especially in warm weather.

  • Running shoes with running socks. Choose the appropriate shoes for whatever terrain you are planning to run on for the day (i.e., trail shoes are designed differently from marathon shoes).

You can also take additional measures to protect your skin and joints. These include putting on KT tape to protect your toes from chaffing.

Nutrition Holders

Even when you are running a relatively short distance, you should always bring your hydration and nutrition packs for safety purposes (i.e., in case of accidents in trails). Besides, your body will require nutrition to make up for the calorie loss.

Your water holder and nutrition bars should always be in your small bag, such as a waist pack. You should be able to drink and eat whenever necessary to prevent dehydration along the way.

Now that you have your iPhone with its running apps and its slim clip case, your water and nutrition bar, and your right running gear, the road awaits you!
