We are told to love the skin we are in, but stretch marks can make you feel self-conscious. They can make it awkward and uncomfortable to wear summer clothes or swim suits. Both men and women can get stretch marks, which usually develop during rapid growth spurt periods. The skin is unable to keep up with the rapid changes happening to your body during the teenage growth years, when you suddenly lose weight, or during pregnancy. Luckily, there is a treatment for stretch marks—and it is called microdermabrasion.

Stretch marks commonly appear around the bottom, the arms, and the stomach. The lines appear as the layers of the skin tear and rupture. At first, they appear to be purple or red marks and then fade to silver or white scars, which are the stretch marks.

You don’t have to live with your ‘stripes’ as microdermabrasion can remove or lessen stretch marks all over your body. This cosmetic treatment makes use of an exfoliant made of fine crystals. The exfoliant is blasted on the surface of your skin, removing the epidermis. Once the upper skin layers are removed, the healing will begin. To make your skin even, collagen stimulation is used. This will heal the tears on your skin and give a smoother complexion. Collage stimulation is known to make your skin rejuvenated, taught, and plump.

Microdermabrasion’s results vary depending on the procedure and your skin type. Note that the so-called DIY microdermabrasion kits available in the market are not as effective as treatments performed by actual dermatologists or plastic surgeons. If you plan on going to a professional, it will usually take 5 to 10 treatments before significant results are seen.

Some patients combine microdermabrasion with other procedures to get satisfactory results. For example, they request for laser treatment and skin peeling, too. Book an appointment with a skin consultant to find out the best procedures to remove your stretch marks. You may even request for advanced microdermabrasion, which is ideal for achieving a healthy skin glow or simply improving the skin color.

Microdermabrasion is not as invasive as the dermabrasion treatment. A handheld device reminiscent of a sandblaster is used on your face. It will then stimulate circulation on your skin. Aside from removing stretch marks, microdermabrasion also offers benefits like maintaining skin health, promoted new cell growth, and anti-wrinkle therapy.
