Kids, adults get stylish at Friends and Fashion event

Posted: Apr 18, 2016
The annual Friends and Fashion marketplace, silent auction, luncheon and fashion show, held Monday, April 11, at Embassy Suites in Cool Springs, saw a sold-out crowd enjoy every aspect of the event, which benefits Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Shopping began early, at 10:30 a.m., with boutiques offering everything from spring dresses to purses to scarves. The silent auction covered a lot of bases, from fashion to travel. Guests filled the ballroom for the seated luncheon and fashion show, the latter presented by Belk and Under Armour.
Rhori Johnston, news anchor at News Channel 5, was the emcee. Charles "Chip" Esten of the TV show "Nashville" entertained the crowd to kick off the luncheon. Lisa Harper, an author, speaker and parent of a Children’s Hospital patient, was the featured speaker.

The beauty of this event is that it not only features fashion for adults, but for kids as well — these runway stars are former or current Children’s Hospital patients. Among those capturing the spotlight and a room full of hearts were Kyle Barbarite, Maddy Christison, Kellan Curnutte, Neva Duckworth, Hamilton Garber, Gavin Gunnels, Missy Harper, Ryan Harr, Lily Hensiek, Sophie Hensiek, Isabel Johnson, Hannah Jeans, Ella Rose McBryde, Kassidy Merrell, Khloe Merrell, Jessica Meyer, John Rall, Elijah Rice, Catherine Slemp and Jamie Smith.
