Guidelines for installing Pool Fencing
Posted: Apr 19, 2016
There is no better way to ensure that your kids remain active during the warmer months than having a pool at your backyard. Unfortunately this can also be the source of accidents. There are moments when drowning can occur in your backyard swimming pool due to the fact that there are no pool fences. This makes it possible for babies to find their ways into the pool. It is for this reason that pool fencing plays an important role in preventing accidents. This is on top of the fact that most jurisdictions have a law requiring that all pools have a fence.
The good news is that you can find a wide range of pool fences that range from the aluminum pool fencing and the DIY pool fencing. Of course it is your dream to ensure that your kids remain safe and the pool continues to look smart. However it can be a bit challenging to choose a great fence. You will need to consider the amount that you are ready to pay for the pool as well as the installation cost.
Choose a safe fence
The required standards for the pool fence will differ from one area to the other. However, some of the necessary requirements are:
1. A pool fencing that doesn’t have gaps that are wider enough to ensure that a toddler can squeeze through them
2. The fence does not have climbing footholds
3. Has a height of at least 1.2m and a ground clearance that doesn’t exceed 100mm
4. Is rigid and strong to ensure that no child is able to force their way through the mesh or bar
5. Has welds and materials that are not only strong enough but can withstand some heavy ground clearance
What are your preferred styles?
The look and style of your fence is a decision that will depend on your preference. This is as long as it meets the required preference. Steel and aluminum fences are usually made using some tubular bars that are joined at the lower and upper rails.
Safety glass
This is another option that is usually popular as a result of the pool fences. The glass panels are usually held into place as a result of spigots and posts that have various designs which have been core-drilled or are usually bolted into a concrete. There are various looks that you can choose from; frameless, framed, semi-frameless and in ground. Spigots and posts usually cost the same or even more than the glass. However, they play an important role in providing strength and stability. The safety glass is usually made from:
Solid sheets and this ensure that there aren’t any gaps through which a kid can squeeze through or even climb as long there are panels that have been installed in the right manner.
Is usually less obstructive as compared to aluminum fence and steel
Is available in different thickness such as 8, 10 or even 12
Is significantly more expensive as compared to the metal fencing especially where there is a need to buy spigots and posts that can be used to hold glass panels in place.
