New Youth Show on Girl Empowerment- MTV India Girls on Top

Viewers of Indian TV Channels in Singapore have an opportunity to witness a brand new MTV India show called Girls on Top, which deals with lots of still unanswered questions about women. This romantic TV series uses a relaxed atmosphere to expose all kinds of taboos.

Girls on Top is a story of three Indian girls living in Mumbai. Isha, Gia, and Revati are trying their best to build successful careers, but face a lot of challenges to which many Indian girls can relate. Apart from the struggle of women in India, this TV series also deals with the challenges every person faces when moving from one city to another.

All three girls are new in Mumbai, a city of twelve million people that is sometimes very harsh to its new residents. Isha Jaisingh, played by Saloni Chopra is a young TV producer who finds that the only way to climb the corporate leaders is to sleep with the boss. Isha shares an apartment with Gia Sen, a Mumbai Masala journalist, played by Barkha Singh. The third resident of the flat is Revati (Ayesha Adlakha), who is an aspiring DJ, dreaming about a career in Europe.

These three girls are sort of heroes of our times. They are ambitious and ready to take all the necessary steps to break away from the conventional life, in order to realize their dreams. But, making the dreams come true comes with a price. Over the course of the series, the viewers will see what kind of obstacles these girls face on a regular basis and what their solutions are. Sometimes, they’ll go the easy road, but sometimes breaking a taboo will require a lot of emotional suffering.

Even the name of the show, Girls on Top, with its double meaning suggests that the series will cause a lot of controversies. The intention of the show creatives was to shed a light on problems women face in contemporary India and inspire the youth who are struggling to make a successful career. However, the show is not meant for the female audience only.

On the contrary, Girls on Top challenges some of the most important life matters. Does the cause justify the means and should a person destroy every obstacle that stands on their road to happiness. These and similar philosophical questions are all around in this seemingly comic TV show. For all of these reasons, Girls on Top will make you question your life.
