The charming resort of La Tania, which belongs to the Courchevel area, is one of the most popular in the Trois Vallees. Its promise of ‘guaranteed snow’, along with its more than 150 kilometres of challenging slopes and winding pistes, brings thousands of winter enthusiasts from all over the world every year. However, it is more than the excellent skiing facilities and opportunities that make this resort town memorable. The cosy, picturesque town (and the iconic chocolate-box chalet La Tania is famous for), the leisurely ambience, and warm hospitality are among the pleasures of this gorgeous Alpine paradise. What's to love? But don’t let the words ‘ski resort’ fool you. This resort town is far from a one-trick pony. In fact, even during the height of summer when the slopes have closed for the year, people continue to flock here to enjoy its many non-skiing-related activities. Après-ski is a French phrase that literally means ‘after skiing’ and which is colloquially used to refer to social activities that people, especially those on holiday, in ski towns and resorts engage in before retiring to their chalet. La Tania, though far from being a party town like Meribel, nevertheless offers a wide variety of activities and amusements that are exciting enough to tear you away from the slopes! There’s more to winter sports than skiingIf you wiped out early on the slopes and it’s too soon to hit the clubs or retire to your chalet, La Tania offers other high-octane activities that are sure to get you up and going again. A fierce game of hockey with your friends or dogsledding through the gorgeous snow-blanketed countryside is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. For the ultimate high, how about slicing through the icy air in a paraglider or attempting complicated moves on a snowboard? If you’re after something more low key, how about a romantic hike through the woods or holding hands while you ice skate with your sweetheart? Afterwards, to warm up, share rich hot chocolate or cheese fondue as you cuddle up in front of a roaring fire in your private chalet. La Tania is certainly as romantic as it is exciting. When the sun goes down is when the party startsThough no one could blame you if you wanted to spend all your nights being romantic in your cosy chalet, La Tania has other pleasures you might regret missing out on if you do. Dinners in can be wonderful, but why not enjoy haute cuisine in one of the area’s three Michelin-starred restaurants. After, you can head on up to the Ski Lodge (which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year) for live music or one of the clubs in nearby towns for some dancing.
