At Lake Charles Clinical Trials, we aim to help patients with mental illness change the course of their lives through clinical research and investigational drug treatment.

Variety of clinical trials

We conduct multiple clinical trials for several different diagnoses, including:

  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Schizophrenia
  • Major Depressive Disorder
  • Bipolar Disorder (with Manic or current depressive symptoms)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

All clinical trials are carried out on humans only after extensive preclinical research done on animals to ensure safety. Additionally, all of our procedures are closely monitored by ethical review boards and the FDA. You can check out the list of clinical trials done at our clinic by visiting our website Lake Charles Clinical Trials.

Process of testing on humans

Clinical research is conducted in three general phases:

Phase 1 –This stage involves assessment of the drugs for safety in humans. The study is aimed at determining the absorption, metabolism and excretion of the drugs and also the side effects associated with increasing the dosage.

Phase 2 – This stage involves testing the efficacy of the drug, after it has been tested to be safe. This process may last several years, during which random studies are made on separate groups, one group having the drugs and the other administered placebo.

Phase 3 – This stage involves testing on a large scale, usually involving thousands of participants of different ages, genders, and ethnicities. This phase of research compares the new treatment against the standard of care to determine which is safer and more effective. This gives the FDA and pharmaceutical companies a clear understanding of the efficacy of the drugs.

Qualified staff

At Lake Charles Clinical Trials, we have a team of qualified and experienced research staff that includes research coordinators, raters, and study nurses as well as a full-time phlebotomist. Each member of our staff is highly trained in patient care and ethical practices to ensure the safety and welfare of our patients.

There is no cost to participate in our clinical trials and health insurance is not needed. Compensation for your time and travel expenses may be provided. We are always in the process of recruiting participants for a variety of mental health diagnoses.
