Maybe you've watched a TV show about someone who has altered their home to use green energy, or maybe you're just concerned about the environment and want to change your own home. Whatever your motivation, this article is a great start for anyone who wants to start using green energy today.

Before you start incorporating green energy sources into your home, you should cut back on the amount of electricity you use. Make sure you're not wasting power by leaving things turned on when you're not using them. This way, when you make the switch over to alternative energy sources, you'll be more efficient with your energy usage.

During the summer months, hang your clothes outside instead of drying them in the dryer. This can cause your clothes to smell really good. Line-dried items will be just as clean and dry as they would be if you used the dryer, but they will also smell so much fresher. Also, using your dryer less will save you money in energy costs on your utility bills each month.

Start small. Even if you don't have the resources for a large-scale green energy project, there are still steps you can take. For example, solar chargers for small electronics generally only require the device to be set near a window for a few hours. Don't underestimate the power of a small step.

Try to turn off things you are not using. Upon leaving a room, turn off such things as the lights, computer, television or entertainment center. The easiest way to do this is to plug everything into a power strip and then just switch that power strip to the off position whenever you need to.

You should never use a small amount of warm water all at once. Doing this will just gradually increase your overall energy usage. Instead, try using all the warm water you plan on using immediately. For example, you should try having all your family members take a quick shower at once.

You can obtain hot water for a cheap cost with solar energy. Purchase a solar water heating system. Two types are available, direct and indirect. The indirect system is best if you don't want to worry about your pipes freezing in the winter.

Turn your computer off when you are not using it. This includes anything connected to the computer, such as the printer. When these are on, even if in hibernate mode, they are drawing electricity. When you are done browsing or working, turn off the computer and turn off the strip plug to save electrical energy.

Install timers, motion sensors, or sound sensors on lamps, lights and other electrical devices to automate their functions. Such sensors are ideal if you have a hard time remembering to turn off the lights, and because they conserve energy, they can save you a significant amount of your power bill.

The tips in this article are many, but they are all so easy to use that you'll be able to implement each within your own home. Make the changes necessary and monitor the benefits you get from each, then you can select which are working and which don't fit your needs. You'll be energy-independent in no time!

There was a gap in this area as most radiation detection systems had only provided an area monitor from a great distance. RadComm developed a new innovative approach to this gap by developing a system that could be mounted on a grapple and would allow close proximity scans to the scrap without disruption to ongoing production processes. This system has now been implemented across a number of steel companies with great success.
