Guide to hiring projectors: brightness
Posted: Dec 21, 2013
The following are important elements to look out for when looking for projector for hire
- The number of people you expect in your room.
Every one in the room must have easy viewership of the projected images. This relies much more on the brightness of your projector. It is advisable to increase the size of the images with the increase in the number of people in your room. By increasing the size of the image projected, it means increasing the brightness too. An increase in the size diminishes the projector brightness since light gets spread over a bigger surface area.
- The amount of lighting in the room you intend to use.
The extent to which you adjust your projector brightness will also be determined by your room’s lighting. The best images are projected inside a dark room as compared to brighter rooms. When you hire projector it is advisable to consider its own brightness levels as well as that of the room. Some meetings will require some lighting for the sake of those who need to take notes in these very meetings. Therefore it would be unprofessional to keep them in an extremely dark room. It beats logic to see nice images but strain a lot in trying to see whatever you are jotting down. Too much brightness is also not good for your audience. It may have a negative effect on their visibility.
- The type of projection screen you have.
The type of projector screen has an adverse effect in the quality and brightness of the image. A majority of the projector screens in the market today offer significant light reflection. This makes it possible for projectors with low brightness to appear good in a proper setting. If you don’t have a projection screen in your room, then it would be advisable to go for projector with high brightness level. This is definitely because walls have a poor reflection.
- The application to which you intend to use the projector.
The application to which you utilize the projector also determines the amount of brightness. Functions such as workgroups and training require higher brightness. The reason here is that such functions normally involve taking of notes and some forms of communication hence the need for more light for a clear visibility of the writing materials. Applications that require the use of presentations such as video, photographs, or graphics in most cases require that the room gets a bit of more darkening. This means less light output is required. If you hire projector for multiple functions, better look out for more demanding situations.
The current projector market has a variety of these devices. They come in a range of lumen output as show below:
- Below 2000 lumens: these types of projectors are smaller in size and offer the lowest amount of light. In generally, they are the cheapest on the market. These projector types are ideal for a good display of still photography and training videos.
- Between 2000 & 3000 lumens: these have a higher light output compared to that less than 2000 lumens and is suitable for classrooms as well as normal business conference rooms.
- 3000 to 4500: these give an even higher performance than the previous two.
- 4500 + lumens: these are ultra bright. They are suitable for night clubs, concerts, churches, auditoriums, training rooms, conference rooms, board rooms, etc.
