Rubber stamps have been in use for the longest times known. Before the times of the digital signature, rubber stamps were used extensively as the mark of the authentication. If the company or organization had to prove its authenticity, they had to put the stamp on the piece of paper. Rubber stamps are often accompanied with the signature of the person with the authority. The stamps were used so much that the word ‘stamp’ began being used as the metaphor. The metaphorical word stamp means the mark of approval. Stamps were not only used for the practical purposes. They were also used to create funny art forms. For instance, you may find a rubber stamp that may impress an image of an animal on the paper. Designing of the stamps requires many different materials. Here are some of the most important materials used by the rubber stamp manufacturers.

Latex Rubber

This is the naturally found rubber. It is extracted majorly from the special rubber tree. This rubber is widely used for the making of the rubber stamp. It is a non-vulcanized rubber and is used in a number of items including gloves, condoms, and latex clothing.

Wood

Wood is used as a mounting block. The handle of the rubber stamp is usually made of wood. The other materials that are actually used to create the impression on the paper are fixed at the bottom of the block. Wood is a very important rubber stamp raw material.

Adhesive backed foam

The foam padding is required to absorb pressure when the rubber stamp is forced against the paper. The paper which needs to be stamped is usually kept on a hard surface, such as wooden table. Without the proper padding, the person who is stamping the paper will feel the shock. Also, the stamp impression on the paper will also not be perfect without it. The foam padding is done between the block and the rubber.

The ink

The ink is not required in the making of the rubber stamp per se. However, it is an integral part of the stamping process. Without the ink there will be no impression. The ink is applied to the bottom of the stamp by pressing the stamp against the inkpad. This is the most popular method of putting the ink. The ink refills are available to put on the inkpad when all the ink is used up and the inkpad has dried. However, the modern stamp tools do not use the inkpad. They automatically discharge ink when stamp is pressed against the paper.

Designing

Any rubber stamp maker in India or anywhere else will use a set process to design the rubber stamps. There are different types of stamp makers. You will find large scale stamp producers who design the stamps in bulk. Then there are some freelancers also who cater to only limited number of clients but design really good stamps. Rubber stamp industry is quite big and provides employment to a lot of people all over the world.
