New and Unique Teaching Methods Used By Schools in Nerul
Posted: May 14, 2016
Illiteracy is one of the major social problems in Indian society. To make sure that children get high quality formal education and turn out to be responsible citizens, schools in Nerul have adapted to the use of new methods of teaching such as spaced teaching to make learning a more enjoyable experience for children.
Illiteracy is a major problem that is impeding the inclusive development of Indian society. Despite experiencing consistent economic growth over the last few decades, India has failed to ensure access to formal education among people across different parts of the country. However, a number of schools in and around Nerul and other parts of Mumbai have come up with new methods of teaching in order to bring about a change in the way education is imparted. Some of them are mentioned below: -
Spaced learning by schools in Nerul
Spaced learning is a new method of teaching, which is being used by schools in Nerul. In this type of learning method, condensed learning is repeated thrice. Two 10-minute breaks are offered in between activities to students. Often PE and lessons are offered in a combination. In this method of learning, students are encouraged to switch activities within a short span of time. For instance, ten minutes of teaching of the photosynthesis system through a PowerPoint presentation is followed by ten minutes of cricket. This teaching methodology is believed to improve the grades of children.
The results of Nerul based schools have proved to be effective through the use of this teaching method. Teachers have claimed this method is more worthwhile rather than following the time tested method of teaching students. By giving breaks to students, it helps in creating some connections, which are necessary to remember whatever they have studied. Moreover, students get the much-needed relaxation they require. Teachers compress some sections of the syllabus to ensure students find studies a more enjoyable as compared to earlier experience.
More engaged method of teaching
Schools of Nerul urge their students to observe what is happening around them in different parts of the world. Their main aim is to help students create an ability to analyze situations. Rather than follow conventional methods of teaching, students are taken for visits to local businesses in order to help them how their knowledge could be applied in the real world. The main aim of such visits is to make students more engaged and help them form a connection to their learnings to the practical world. If teachers can show them how their knowledge can be connected to the real world, then the brain cells of the students will connect and associate with them perfectly.
At present, this new method of teaching has been introduced at the middle school level and has brought about a remarkable improvement in the results of students. The major aim of the new teaching methods is to improve the quality of education available at the primary level and increase the involvement of students in the educational process. As a result, children who are the future citizens of the country, can turn out to be valuable assets for the country.
Though spaced learning is still at the initial stage of implementation, yet it will gradually but surely bring down illiteracy levels across different parts of the country.
