Producing content today in not just limited to a few industries or brands. In this age of digital marketing, everyone needs contents and that is one of the main reasons that freelance content writing jobs and even freelance SEO jobs in India continue to be profitable avenues. However, producing good quality, engaging content that fulfills your purpose is not an easy task.

We’ve compiled a list of the common mistakes content writers make that ought to be avoided at all costs.

Forgetting Keywords – While your content should definitely be speaking to your readers, don’t think that’s all it needs to do. Content that contains key words is necessary for making your page optimally utilized in a very strategic manner. It is important that you identify the key words for your organization or brand and use it in a smart and lucid manner without overdoing it.

Inconsistent Voices – Every brand has a brand identity and a ‘voice’ goes along with it. This comprises of all the various different words you use, the phrases and the overall tone that you pick to address your readers. By being consistent with your voice, you are giving the reader a crystal clear view of the brand as well as a clear idea of how they can relate to you.

Assumed Knowledge – Content Writers often assume that their readers know a lot more than they actually do. When you write with the assumption that your reader knows what you’re trying to say, there is a lot of room for miscommunication that could have disastrous consequences. You may even lose readers and potential customers if you’re not being very seamless in your writing by filling all the gaps.

Too much Jargon – Dumbing down of content is never a great idea because then it gets too boring to read. However, using too much jargon or too many technical words will lead to loss of readership. Always, make sure that your content fits within the required frame of not being ‘too simple’ nor being ‘too difficult’.

Focusing on you – When you’re the one writing content, it is obvious that your point of view gets more weight. The focus will undoubtedly be on what services or products you offer and what else you can give the reader. However, if you’re not going to consider the other side (the reader’s) you’ll eventually see them losing interest in what you have to say.
