Anthony Tata - Retired US Army Brigadier General

Anthony Tata was born in Norfolk, Virginia and grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia with this older brother and younger sister. Growing up, he was an athlete, playing baseball and a member of the wrestling team in high school. As a junior varsity baseball playing, he played second base and shortstop on two state championship baseball teams. His high school wrestling career was just as impressive as his high school baseball career, having placed 4th in the 126-pound weight category at the state wrestling finals. After graduating high school, he moved to West Point, New York where he attended the West Point Military Academy. In 1981, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree.

After receiving his Bachelor’s, Anthony Tata enrolled at the Catholic University of America where he received his Master of Arts degree in International Relations and Political Economy. Shortly after he enrolled at the School of Advanced Military Studies in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In 1993, he graduated with a Master of Science in Military Art and Science. In 1999, he was personally selected by General Wesley Clark to become the Advisor to Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, starting his impressive and highly decorated military career.

For the next 28-years, Anthony Tata worked a broad base of assignments ranging from commands of combat airborne units to directing innovation and oversight of over 100 programs. During his career, he held a number of leadership positions. He was the battalion commander of the 1st Battalion, the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and the 82nd Airborne Division, along with becoming the Executive Officer to the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the Executive Officer to the Commander, Implementation Forces, Bosnia and Commander and a Lieutenant/Captain of the 25th Infantry Division.

From 2006 to 2007, Anthony Tata served a combat tour in Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Badge. Throughout his career, he received many awards and honors. Along with the Combat Badge and Bronze Star, he received the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Ranger Tab, Air Assault Badge, Joint Commendation Medal, and the Legion of Merit among many others. After retiring from the US Army, he used his extensive military background to reliably comment on foreign policy, military action, and domestic politics. He has appeared on several prominent news programs as a guest commentator. He has appeared on the O’Reilly Factor, Fox and Friends Weekday and Weekend, America Live with Megyn Kelly, America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer, and many others.
