Indian wedding ceremonies are usually lavish and are great fun to attend. The celebrations usually start days and sometimes week before the Big Day. The ceremonies include the engagement ceremony, haldi ceremony, mehendi ceremony, baraat, wedding and reception. Indian weddings are no longer the conventional ceremonies which date back to time immemorial. They have changed drastically and have become extremely stylish affairs like never before.

One of the major ceremonies in Indian weddings is the Sangeet ceremony. In this occasion, sherwani are the most popular dressing option for the Indian groom. A sherwani as a Sangeet attire very boldly signifies style as well as elegance. It is believed that the clothes and rituals are a vital part of the all ceremonies in Indian weddings. So, it is absolutely necessary for both the bride and the groom to dress gorgeously. Apart from the sherwani, the groom can sport a look by trying out for chic tuxedos, embroidered kurta dhoti, kurta pyjama etc. in the Sangeet ceremony.

Sherwanis are very much similar to coats but they are long and are usually worn over a Churidar or kurta. There are indeed various designer Sherwanis like baloochi and peshwari which are most in demand among the Indian grooms. The groom can also very well add on and accessorize his look with a kalangi or kantha. The dresses usually have a close body fit and have a lining which is beneath the sherwani. Some of the wedding sherwanis are designed with outstanding crystals and hand embroidered thread work while the others have some really spectacular mirrors, stones, beads and sequins work which makes them look really beautiful and gorgeous.

At earlier times, the sherwanis usually had hand embroidery whereas with the changing times, the machine embroidery is highly in fashion. Various materials are being used for the making of the dress such as the tussars, crepes, crinkled tissues, woven silk, zardozi etc. To match up with the gorgeous sherwani, one can also buy accessories like a groom tikka or a groom turban. The most traditional colors used for a sherwani are gold, red and maroon. But today many grooms wants to look different and also chooses colors like off-white, brown, blue, green, grey or cream color.

The wedding sherwani for the groom should necessarily be in sync with the bride’s outfit in order to show off a dazzling match on the Big Day.
