You can always rely on the beanie to keep you warm and cozy in cold weather. But did you know beanies are not just for keeping your ears and head warm? A beanie, when worn right, heats up your street style, or it can turn up your classy style. How you want to look is all up to you. Here’s a list of six styles to wear a beanie. However, the versatility of the tuque is only limited by your wardrobe. So have fun and accessorize where you can.

1. Standard Beanie Look

The standard method is the most effective in keeping you warm. The beanie goes around your head uniformly and covers both your ears keeping them well out of the biting cold. That means you shouldn’t cuff the beanie and the front should rest a few centimeters above your eyebrows.

Take the standard tuque look in winter and combine it with your winter coat and boots for a complete look.

2. Single Cuff Beanie

Having a bad hair day? The single cuff look is ideal for covering shaggy hair. You can even pull the look off on a casual day at the office. Cuff the beanie once around your forehead such that it’s an inch away from your eyebrows. The beanie should also rest halfway down your ears.

If you have a custom woven beanie with pom, you can combine it with your athleisure wear to get a street style going.

3. Steve Zissou’s Beanie

Remember the 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou? The classic fisherman look is back and it’s here to stay. For this look, cuff the beanie twice and wear it at the top of your head. Your forehead should be exposed with a little hair sticking out at the front of your head. You can wear the tuque near your forehead or at the back of your head. The beanie must not cover your ears, however.

This fisherman look goes well in a laid back casual setting. Put on some loafers, shorts and a tee to complete the fisherman look.

4. High-Top Beanie

If you are feeling cool and not cold, this is the perfect beanie look. The beanie is worn at the top of the head and placed as forward as it can go without reaching your forehead. Don’t cuff the beanie and allow it to rest on the top of your ears. At the top, the beanie should be nearly vertical, almost poking out of your head. Get a custom knit tuque made if you’re looking to get this look.

5. Robbin Hood’s Beanie

Like Hood, cuff the beanie once in the back, but don’t let the cuff run all the way to the front. Ideally, the cuff should stop right at the ears.

The look goes great with anything in your wardrobe.
