During the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan mission on the 2nd day of October 2014 at Rajpath in New Delhi, India PM Shri Narendra Modi was quoted saying, "A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary in 2019". Modi who is serving as the present day Indian Prime Minister launched two important missions namely Swachh Bharat Clean Ganga movement with the theme of One India Clean India. Both these two missions triggered a feeling of patriotism within the countrymen throughout the length and breadth of the nation who dedicated themselves to become a part of it.

"Na Gandagi karenge, Na karne denge"- Cleanliness mantra for PM Modi

Marking a way for the people to attain a clean nation to live in, PM Modi made people aware of Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of transforming India into a clean and hygienic nation. Modi took this initiative to make India clean was found cleaning the dirt with a broom near the Mandir Marg Police Station where from the mission was first launched. While he headed forward with the mission along with his mantra" Na gandagi karenge, Na karne denge"(meaning neither shall we litter nor shall anyone else litter), he invited 9 people to join him in the mission and requested them each to invite 9 others respectively to cordially take part to make this Abhiyan a success.

Ganga clean campaign takes off with Swachh Bharat mission

While persuading the citizens for carrying on the Swachh Bharat mission through his action and words, PM Modi has meanwhile taken up another challenge under the Clean India movement. Driven by this desire of having a clean India, he waded up the spade near River Ganga at Assi Ghat, Varanasi with the mission of clearing off the dirt that has been spoiling the purity of River Ganga ever since years. Modi who was accompanied by a large group of localities for the Swachh bharat mission was too supported by them for the Clean Ganga mission thereby respecting the Prime Minister’s country sanitation valuation.

Participation from notable citizens

Considering the health and life of the Indian families while Narendra Modi government have immensely supported the movement for cleanliness, different sections of the society have also joined the cause to transform India into a clean nation to live in. Not only has the Indian citizens supported the cause but famous personalities from Bollywood, sports personalities, industrialists, spiritual leaders; almost all have contributed their support for the cause with the zeal of making it a success. Many NGOs and social workers have also lined up for the cause organizing seminars and campaigns in the schools, colleges and the local community to make larger and larger number of people join the movement.
