Boys Swim Trunks – How to Choose
Posted: May 25, 2016
1. Always check the composition of the fabric.
Swim trunks come in different textiles and fabrics. The best ones dry quickly and offer protection from harmful UV rays from the sun. As a general rule, a nylon and polyester blend is the best for water sports activities. Cotton tends to take much longer to dry because of its absorbent nature, whereas nylon and polyester swim trunks are more water resistant.
2. Go for comfort.
Board short type swim trunks have longer inseams and are quite loose, but are still secure around the waist. This kind of fit allows your kids to move freely while in the water. Choose trunks with adjustable drawstring waists and garters.
Some boys’ swim trunks even feature 2-way or 4-way stretch technology to make them less constrictive and more comfortable. You might also find seamless shorts for less friction. Some even have advanced features such as an inner mesh and waterproof pockets.3. Ask your kids about their preference.
You won’t be wearing the trunks—they will. Shouldn’t they have a say? Your boys probably have their own opinions on what color, design, and cut or style they prefer. Try to ask if they would prefer longer trunks that look like board shorts or shorter ones that look like pool shorts. What would they be more comfortable wearing?
It is important that you present your kids some choices before you purchasing anything. Don’t show them everything on the website or they may get overwhelmed. Narrow down the selection based on price, fabric, and other such factors, and then call your kids and let them make a choice. This ultimately makes your life easier because they will be excited to put on the shorts they have chosen come beach day—which means you never have to force them to get dressed.
