Beanies come in handy in the winter time. They not only cover your head and ears keeping them warm, but they are also a great way to show off your fashion sense. You can use the beanie to add a splash of color to an otherwise dull outfit. One of the major disadvantages of wearing any hat is getting hat head! This is especially so if you are going into a meeting or into the office. You don’t want to take off your beanie hat and have that sweaty, frizzy, matted down, flattened look. Here’s how to avoid hat head:

  • The best place to start is to make sure you pick the right one. Natural fabrics are the best way to go because they do not experience as much of the static cling that makes your look frizzy. The fabrics to select are cashmere, cotton and wool. Additionally, look for a beanie that is slouchy and loose so that your hair is not flattened on your head.

  • You are able to custom-design a winter hat that you can look great in. But you still need to make sure that when the hat comes off, your hair remains great-looking. Be sure to use volumizer when you are blow-drying your hair and then make sure you dry it all the way. If your hair is damp or wet before putting on your beanie, you can be sure that you will have hat head.

  • Those with long hair can wear the beanie in such a way that their hair peeks out from under the beanie. Loose curls and textured waves are a great way to go. Be sure to curl the hair away from the face so that they frame the face and leave you looking more polished. Perfection is not what you are aiming for. In fact, an ‘undone’ look can make you look even more appealing in your beanie.

  • Another great idea for wearing your out West custom beanie is to wear your hair in a side braid. A fishtail braid is a great idea as is a regular 3-strand braid. You can be sure that you won’t go wrong with this. Simply braid it tight, tie off at the end and then muss up the sides to give that messed up look and also add volume.

  • You may also consider a loose bun secured at the back of the head. Make sure it is low. Once you get to the office, all you have to do is take off the hat, unwind your bun and you can enjoy some delightful, static-free, soft waves.
