A dual chamber or compartment bottle is basically designed for the purpose of allowing the co-packaging of two or more products that, when brought together, will be creating one integrated final product. Most of the time they are packed in separate bottles, as the compositions cannot be packaged stably, easily, or cost-effectively be packaged in standard one compartment containers, which may result in an early deterioration of the quality of the content as well as the usefulness of the final product.

You rarely find them being used in the food or the beverage industry, as in this area, the dispenser cap is more popular when it comes to the distribution of the sensitive vitamins as well as the other ingredients. The dual chamber bottles are quite popular in the chemical industry, especially when it comes to the dual-compartment adhesives, for instant epoxies. Some other examples that can be found when we talk about oral care are: a mouthwash products and a toothpaste product and drain cleaning products that usually lie under the renowned brands.

Even though they are very cleverly designed, they too have some limitations and a great competition in the supermarket shelves that usually carry a huge variety of products, which makes the consumer confused by the large number of products. It may cause the consumer to overlook these kinds of products that are packaged in a dual-chamber bottle. Certainly in spite of the continuous use of the word "Dual", "Duo", Twin" or anything else at all, ironically there is no other way of getting to know of the nature of the product that might be packed in the multiple chamber bottle when it you see it on a supermarket shelf. Always remember that the consumer spends approximately four seconds in order to screen the shelves. You can never expect a customer to shop with their eyes open for the kind of exceptional design for your double chamber bottle or the technology that has been used in its packaging. Therefore, it is difficult to highlight the benefits that a dual chamber bottle offers to the customer.

For example, the single dose dual-chamber bottles help to store the dry and functional ingredient powder inside the plug and plunger that is present under the cap, along with a flavoured liquid that is contained in the bottle. For using it, the consumer has to screw the cap down, till the cap rests on the shoulder of the bottle. This makes the plunger press through the plug, which in turn releases the dry powder into the second chamber below that contains the liquid. After this the consumer has to shake the bottle to stir the contents. Now, one has to remove the cap and consume the contents.

This separation thus, helps to keep the dry functional ingredients, stable and fresh in order to prevent degradation. This packaging gives more opportunities so as to combine a large number of ingredients and ingredient types with the liquid content. These dual chamber bottles are available in various shapes and colours.
