Top Five Solar Power Users In The World
Posted: Jun 14, 2016
There is a common notion among people that solar panels can be used only in regions where sunrays are available in plenty. And of course they are right, but only to some extent. While the usage of renewable energy in places like Tampa is flourishing, there are many other countries that use the solar power despite their colder climates. Think of Germany. According to a new survey report, Germany is the global leader in the usage of solar power. Here is a list of top five countries in the world that have left a mark in the solar industry.
Number 5 – USA
Though this country has been developing its solar capacity by 750 percent, it still lies in the fifth position in the world. The USA has been very successful in implementing this renewable energy in various sectors. For instance, Disney, the world-famous amusement park, has recently adopted this green-energy wave. The USA has also benefited from the steadily dropping price of solar due to government policies, which again has contributed to a growth in the domestic solar industry. The country has quite a large number of solar projects in their pipeline, which will definitely increase its installation capacity in the coming years. The United States has also taken the initiative to encourage its citizens to use solar power by offering tax benefits to the users.
Number 4 – Japan
The Land of the Rising Sun surely knows how to maximize the use of solar power. Yes, it’s true that the country fell from the third place in 2010 to the fourth place in 2014, but it is still standing strong in the context of the persent global solar boom. In these four years, Japan has been successful in increasing its solar capacity by more than 500 percent, and if its solar ambitions are any hint, the country is all set to achieve more lofty goals. Japan has set a target to meet the 28 GW benchmark by 2020 and touch the 53 GW mark by 2030.It plans to emerge as the world leader in the production of solar power by motivating and assisting the private sectors and the local authorities to use renewable energy.
Number 3 – Italy
With an increased solar capacity, Italy has improved its rank from number five to number three. What makes this country more successful is its achievement to generate 7.8 percent from solar, which is even more than Germany. The more this country streamlines its approach, the better is its possibility to grow its renewable energy usage.
Number 2 – China
The country has remained committed to its solar usage. There is little surprise that China holds the second position in the world in this field. It has grown its solar capacity by 6,000 percent, which has helped the country evolve as a major solar panel manufacturer. China is targeting to grow its energy to 20 GW by 2020. Being one of the biggest carbon-releasing countries, this Far Eastern leader is planning to cut down its coal usages and focus more on green energy.
Number 1 –Germany
This country has continued to hold its place as the major solar user in the world even after its slowdown in 2013. In 2009, Germany installed 3.8 GW of PV solar energy capacity and added to that every year. It has also introduced 3.3 GW of new solar capacity. From 2010 to 2012, it has installed 6 GW per year and experts believe that Germany will remain the largest solar user in Europe even in the coming years. A lot of factors including the availability of good PV companies, government schemes and general awareness of PV usage has contributed to Germany’s success in this context. This large availability of solar energy has helped Germany to support commercial and domestic needs.
The industry of solar energy is growing rapidly and according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), solar energy could become the world’s largest source of electricity by mid-century. If you want to explore the possibility of
