It has always been discussed and shall continue to be debatable – how to reach the optimum level of productivity and whether it’s even possible?

The degree of how well you use all the available resources to its best potential to reach a pee-determined result can be recognized as productivity. In a student’s life, it is all the more important. Most of the times, students slog for the entire year and yet are unable to perform up to their expectations – making them lose face in front of friends, peers, family and more so, themselves.

It is often misunderstood that working for long duration determines and seals success – it really does not.

However, what is important is to work smart and do more in the same time without hurting your brain.

Now, how is that possible? There are few scientifically proven tactics which allows a student to be more productive while studying.

Time-

Set aside a fixed amount of time for studying purposes each day. This sets a routine which triggers the mind to switch into study-mode at that time. Regular practice can even make cognitive changes in your mind and you won’t even require motivation to study; in fact, you’ll be looking forward to it.

Regular Breaks-

As much as focus and concentration is important in work, so is regular breaks. Scientists have proved that human brain is not meant to function at its best when used for long hours. Given this fact, students can place tiny breaks in between their study time to attain maximum productivity.

Focus on Ergonomics-

While studying, focusing on the ergonomics can drive more work. It is a scientifically backed theory; sitting on a chair with your study material on the desk will be better than studying on a couch. It includes human comfort and functional design. Thus ergonomically designed furniture will lead to more comfortable studying, reducing maximum health issues.

Workplace-

Taking about ergonomics, it is also necessary to determine the place of your study. Studying in a familiar place, like your bedroom or kitchen can make you less alert. Instead, find a place slightly unfamiliar – your college library, a neighborhood café, your mother’s study – this helps in channelizing the thoughts and creating more focused environment.

Reduce Distractions-

When trying to study, focus only on studying and shut the digital world altogether. Notifications of emails and from social networking sites are the biggest distractions. If it is important, specify a time during one of your breaks and check, then get back to books right away. No excuses!

Multi-tasking:

We often hear how a certain ‘xyz’ can handle all the tasks at once and even focus on 3 subjects at a time – well, it may sound heroic but is actually fruitless! Human brain retains less while multi-tasking, thus it not always advisable to juggle!

Plan-

More often than not, students get the books to the table but get confused about where to begin and how to go about preparations. You ought to have a plan!

  • Divide and allocate tasks subject-wise
  • Stick to the plan at all cost
  • Set milestones
  • Even if the task is a tiny one, do not skip it.

Contribute enough of your time for your coursework, no matter what!

Rewards-

When you reach little milestones you created, reward yourself. Eat an ice-cream, a cookie or even gummy bears!

Meditate-

It is not always a break that is sufficient – your mind needs to refresh. Regular exercise, meditation or any activity that calms your senses works.

Are you ready to be more productive?
