Changing hair styles are an increasing trend that tends to go fashion. Salons experience customers of all age groups to cross their door all day long. Apart from different requirements of each client, there are specific strategies on how to keep them satisfied. Let’s discuss some common types of clients you may experience in your hair salon daily and how best to deal with them.

1.The shy one

These are quiet people and it’s not easy to get them to talk in the first go. You need to make sure they get relaxed at the place they are sitting and more importantly with you. Take them to a quite part away from the salon noise. Talk to them softly in a way they feel good and confident about themselves. This is important because you want your client to choose a hairstyle that best suits their personality and preferences.

2.The angry one

It is not uncommon that you come across angry or hyperactive people in your life and so in your salon. Dealing with these types requires patience. Try to talk to them in a quiet place and keep the conversation as calm as possible. This will help improve their mood which will allow you to do your work smoothly.

3.Never-pleased ones

You did a great job and exactly as what was asked. But the end result is never fruitful with these type of clients. Talk to them clearly and ask for their requirements specifically. You may also ask them to get pictures as to what they actually want. If they are still unsatisfied ask if they want to be attended by some other stylist with whom they would be more comfortable. Many times it’s the case that these people have a personality trait of never getting pleased and will have something to complain about even though if a top most expert stylist has attended them.

4.The hearing-impaired one

Hearing-impaired people have fantastic lip reading skills gifted by nature. So be sure to stand in front of them and speak very clearly and softly. You can also use visual aids or write down things to clarify.

5.The visually-impaired one

Visually impaired people are very sensitive and it is very important to build a trust relationship with them. You should feel the atmosphere of your hair salon from their perspective. Be quite clear in your communication and explain the process thoroughly and output they would get. Don’t think they would need your hand to guide them for moving between the styling chair and back, offer help in a sensible manner only where required.

6.Foreigner or someone who speaks some other language

It is best if you yourself are multi-lingual and have a colleague. If not the language barrier can be a real frustration for both stylist and the client. Try to use magazines, iPads or other visual aids to get the maximum impressions out of them. Practice sign language or hand gestures so that the two way communication can get as clearer as possible.
