How to maintain your house
Posted: Jun 29, 2016
Finding the housing is the one of the biggest problem faced by each individual. Once you find your dream house by facing all the challenges and problem, the other important job is maintenance. It requires lots of budget and time, and frequency of maintenance is also very critical. Regular oil changes for your car keep your engine happy and healthy, keeping regular home maintenance tasks will keep you from future headaches and wasted money.
If you want your things to go smoothly you can make a calendar for a maintenance program. We’ve listed tasks that need to do monthly, quarterly, and biannually. Here is the list of tasks to be done for maintenance. There is no rule as to which task should be done first, you can do them as per your requirement.
These tasks will help you sell home fast when you want to sell.
Monthly task
1.Monitor fire extinguisher:
you might require an expert to do this do not try this on your own. There are societies who do this for free.
2.Filter maintenance:
Many people will tell you to change the filters monthly, but that’s not always necessary. For smaller families without pets, you’ll likely be okay changing the filters every 2-3 months. If the filter is dirty, change it out, otherwise, inspect it again next month. This keeps your house clean and healthy which makes it look presentable when home buyers come for a visit.
3. Kitchen sink:
There are a bunch of ways to do this, the best solution seems to be vinegar ice cubes. Put some vinegar in an ice tray and let it freeze, then run the ice cubes through the disposal.
Quarterly task
- Run water and flush toilets in unused spaces. This mostly applies to guest bathrooms or any other sinks/water sources you don’t use on a regular basis.
- Test garage door auto-reverse feature. federal law states that maximum injury is done in garage accident. Test every month by placing a 2×4 on the ground where the door would close.
- smoke/carbon dioxide detectors. our detectors should have a "test" button. If the alarm sounds, you’re good to go. If not, replace batteries immediately and test again. If it still doesn’t sound, it’s possible there’s simply corrosion on the battery terminal, and it won’t detect new batteries
- Give your house a deep clean. Take one Saturday every four months with your whole family, and give the whole house a proper deep clean. Appliances, windows, dusting every nook and cranny (including the basement), etc. Keeping things clean and not letting dirt/grime/dust build up over years and years will help keep your home in tip-top shape.
- Roof test. Examine roof shingles to see if they damaged during winter. If your home has an older roof covering, you may want to start a budget for replacement.
- Inspect the Concrete. Inspect concrete slabs for signs of cracks. All exterior slabs except pool decks should drain away from the home's foundation. Fill cracks with a concrete crack filler or silicone caulk.
All these things will increase your house life so make it in a habit.
