This particular project has been launched by the Lions Club international and the objective is to create a major awareness about garbage dumping. Kolkata is gradually becoming one of them most polluted cities in eastern India due to rapid urbanization and industrialization.

It is very important to keep the city free from all kinds of environmental pollution. The project has been termed as Clean City Dream City and club has involved numerous members in this regard. The project has been planned in a very meticulous way and the Lions Club International is quite hopeful about it. As one of the premier groups from the city which participates in a variety of social awareness campaigns, currently the Clean City Dream City Project has 2,500 active members. Ghanshyam Sarda, one of the topmost industrialists from the city of Kolkata actively supports the campaign.

The project has been initially started spanning across 60 clubs in the city. In the city of Kolkata, more than 5,732 tonnes of waste are produced on a regular basis. The city has been facing a regular problem as far as garbage dumping is concerned. It is very important to keep the city clean and free from all kinds of rubbish.

The garbage which is produced on a regular basis also gets recycled. But from the 5,732 tonnes of waste which is produced, only 700 tonnes gets recycled. The remaining waste which is produced goes to the dumping station at Dhapa. The project has been initialized at various wards of the city and all the members are putting their best endevour.

As per the clean city drive campaign which has been launched, the next stage will emphasize on the aspect of recycling. The citizens will be made aware about the various effects of garbage dumping. As per the experts who are part of the campaign, just setting up trash bins in various localities would not lead to a solution. It is very important to create a general awareness about the campaign.
