Chevrolet Vehicles in Emergency Situations

Emergency situations are common with almost any vehicle, even Chevrolet automobiles. Whether the vehicle is at fault or the car owner did not properly take care of and maintain the car, there are different reasons for different vehicular emergencies. In such situations car owners should be quite concerned about the root of the problem and how to solve it.

If Engine Doesntt Turn Over or Turns Over Slowly

If the Chevrolet vehicle comprises of an automatic transaxle, the car owners should be certain that the gear selector lever is in N or P and the emergency brake should be set. The battery connections should be checked to be sure they are clean and tight. The interior light should be turned on. If the light dims or goes out when you operate the starter, the battery is discharged. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tightened. Do not push or pull the vehicle to start it.

If the Engine Stalls at a Crossroad and Crossing

If the Chevrolet car engine stalls at a crossroad or crossing, set the shift lever in the N (Neutral) position and then push the vehicle to a safe place.

Jump Starting

If you should accidentally get acid on your skin or in your eyes, immediately remove any contaminated clothing and flush the area with clear water for at least 15 minutes. Then promptly obtain medical attention. If you must be transported to an emergency facility, continue to apply water to the affected area with a sponge or cloth. The gas produced by the Chevrolet car battery during the jump-start operation is highly explosive. Do not smoke or allow a spark or an open flame in the vicinity. The battery being used to provide the jump start must be 12-volt. If you cannot determine that it is a 12-volt battery, do not attempt to use it for the jump start.

Engine Overheating

You will find a coolant temperature gage and a warning light about a hot engine on your instrument panel. You also have a low coolant light on your Chevrolet vehicle instrument panel.

If a Tire Goes Flat

Itss unusual for a tire to "blow out" while you’re driving a Chevrolet vehicle, especially if you maintain your tires properly. If air goes out of a tire, it’s much more likely to leak out slowly. But if you should ever have a "blowout," here are a few tips about what to expect and what to:

If the front tire of a Chevrolet vehicle goes flat the driver should try to take off his foot from the accelerator and firmly control the car, since a lot of drag would be created due to the flat tire. If the rear wheel goes flat, it would be almost as driving while skidding and the best thing to do is to clear off the road while trying to keep the vehicle in proper control.

There are numerous situations when driving a car, even a Chevrolet and the driver should always be ready and prepared for any of them, while known what to do.
