Many of you who are crazy for big banner films must have missed debutant director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s latest release ‘Nil Battey Sanata’. But the movie starring Swara Bhaskar has scored exceptionally by throwing a strong message about how education can bring transformation in your life. The film has impressed the critics across the country.

The film highlights in a comic way how a Matric-fail Chanda Sahay (Swara Bhaskar) works her fingers to the bone to put her daughter Apeksha (Riya Shukla) through school. While doing so Chanda falls into a situation in which mother and daughter end up learning, both in a school setting and at home, both separately and together.

The film has strong message for all and that is about how much education is important in life. But this highly acclaimed flick has never tried to be preachy or message-y. The larger part of Indian society is also facing the same situation where parents and children need to be educated together.

Education in general and girl child education in particular in India needs immediate attention. Poor girl child education is in extremely disappointing stage. Girls’ education needs mass awakening. Massive campaigns needs to by planned and executed at various levels in several areas.

Fund raising schemes needs to be launched and private players should be encouraged to join hands to make it result oriented. Charity for girls’ education must be made a wholesome goal.

When even in the 21st century, the country is coining strategies like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, it shows the seriousness of the situation and the urgency it needs to address the issue whole-heartedly. There are NGOs in Mumbai working for child education, which have taken girls education as their supreme goal.

But this project can’t be confined to any one region or any one community. The girls’ education in India needs systematic planning and implementation only then the dream of joining the league of top nations can be fulfilled.
