The upcoming tamil flick is Jilla, it's an action drama film. The film written and directed by R T Neason and produced by R B Choudary under studio Super Good Films and distributed by Gemini Film Circuit, Maxlab Entertainments, Ayngaran International, FiveStar International ATMUS Entertainments.

Jilla teams are Mohanlal, Vijay, Kajal Agarwal, Mahat Raghavendra, Niveda Thomas, Soori, Sampath Raj, Pradeep Rawat, Thambi Ramaiah, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Vidyullekha Raman, Ravi Mariya.

The completion of velayudham, vijay announced next project with R T Neason, who had worked as an assistant director with jayam raja in velayudham. The project commenced only 2 years later, after vijay completed three other films. Jilla as a Madurai based film, Jilla is a second directional film for Neason earlier he direct muruga. Vijay who had several collaboration with R B choudary so the producer decided to produce jilla with vijay. Mohanlal liked the script and decided to act in the film. Master Raju Sundaram will be choreographer for the film.

Rumour says Nisha Agarwal performing in the film, but report stated that she had not been approached for a film. Kajal Agarwal and Poornima Bhagyaraj are signed in the film, Niveda Thomas plays a daughter character for mohanlal and sister character for vijay. Cinematographer Natarajan Subramania has initially signed for the film but clash of dates he did not part in the film replaced with Ganesh Rajavelu as a cinematographer for the film.

While Neason reported that the film shoot taken in Madurai, Chennai and Andhra Pradesh.

The opening ceremony was held on march 11 2013, at R B Choudary's chennai office. The first schedule was commenced on may 13th in madurai and karaikudi with mohanlal and poornima. Vijay said that joined the shoot on end of month, but this didn't materialise. For the next schedule the film crew shifted to a Chennai-based studio where large sets resembling the city of Madurai were build up for the film. In September 2013, it was reported that Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal would be playing police officers in the film.

The fourth schedule shoot was cancelled due to heavy rain. In october report stated that 80 % of the film was completed only song sequence remaining.

The music director for the film is D Imman, while he was composed the songs and background score. D Imman collaborate with mohanlal for first time and second time for vijay earlier he work with vijay in Thamizhan. The audio rights bagged by star music. Official track was released on 16 December 2013 along with the one of Ajith's Veeram. Imman unveiled the promo songs was released on 18 December 2013 and then the full album was released on December 21 2013.
