All of us wants to keep our youth and look young forever. Ageing is natural, however, there are some biological functions that fasten ageing such as over-oxidation of cells and glycation. We cannot stop the ageing process, but we can delay it by a few years. As you grow older, you must be noticing the sign of ageing on your skin. These could be age spots, wrinkles or fine lines around your lips, forehead and eyes. Skin is the first indicator to tell that you that you are getting old because beneath our skin, there is a fiber layer of elastin and collagen. They are the proteins that keep skin strong and tight. As we get old, the fiber layer weakens, and skin starts getting loosen or sags.
People usually do reach out for various skin treatments and start using expensive anti-ageing creams. But, there are various natural ways to delay ageing that all of us can do easily. The secret of delaying ageing depends on the food, lifestyle, food, physical workout, and many more. Making some changes in our daily lifestyle can surely work for us and save our skin from getting ageing marks. Below are the eight ways to keep looking young:
Eat healthy: Eat a diet full of nutrients, minerals and vitamins that come from vegetables, fruits and nuts. They are known as effective anti-ageing foods because of antioxidants they have. Some of the foods that delay ageing process are: spinach, almonds, tomatoes, chia seeds, spirulina, etc.
Bite on berries: The berries are very effective to keep the ageing signs away. Berries like cherry and cherry have anthocyanins that help in renewing collagen in the skin and keep it elastic and supple. They also contain manganese, which convert toxins present in the skin cells to oxygen and reduce skin damage. Berries also delays the effect of ageing, mainly in the areas of motor skills and memory loss.
Get enough sleep: A proper night’s sleep is more important for leading a healthy life. When you don’t get adequate sleep, the body release excess cortisol, a hormone that splits into skin cells. Taking enough rest produces more human growth hormone and helps skin remain thick, supple and healthy. For adults, around 8 - 9 hours of sleep at night is a must. Try to have your sleep early. As some say, early to bed, early to rise makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise.
Face yoga: Yoga is a traditional and holistic approach that helps your mind and body. Similarly, face yoga is a facial exercise that keeps the face tighter and younger-look forever. Usually, people don’t work on their facial muscles, but face yoga is very effective and prevent us from skin ageing.
Stay hydrated: The easiest way to deal with ageing process is to stay hydrated. Improper hydration is one of the major causes of getting wrinkles. Your skin requires a continuous supply of water to stay elastic and moist. Water helps in absorption, digestion, transport of nutrients and removal of the body wastes. It purifies the body and enhance skin’s turgidity to keep wrinkles away.
Exercise regularly: Engaging your body in energetic muscle exercise help you stay fit and look young for long. When you're physically fit, your body produces more growth hormone that plays a major role in all body process, whether it’s skin, muscle or weight. It is a must to indulge in physical daily activities to stay fit. This may help in keeping the muscle and bone diseases such as arthritis away.
Quit Smoking: Smoking fastens the ageing process of the skin. It also reduces nutrients and blood supply to the skin and body, which makes the skin loses its elasticity and moisture.
Avoid excess exposure to the sun: One of the major causes of ageing of the skin and wrinkles. To save your skin from direct exposure to the sun, always apply sunscreen with a good enough SPF whenever you go out. Else, try to save your skin by staying indoors while the sunlight is heavy.
These were the few simple, but important tips which you can add to your daily lifestyle to get a young and fresh skin. In addition, taking a nutrient-packed diet, staying energized, and following a healthy routine can help slow the ageing procedure and even prevent you from age-related diseases, such as osteoporosis, diabetes and heart disease. Armed with this useful information, you can start your journey to an all-round better appearance and healthier skin. However, if you wish to use creams, lotions, or other chemical & surgical alternatives, like fillers, peels, botox and lasers to stop ageing, it is good to consult with a dermatologist for help and advice. Don’t get to select if you are aged or not, but select how well you age.
