Sastra University At glance
Sastra (Sanghmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy) University is a deemed university situated in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, the university was established in 1984 and got the status of University April 26, 2001. Earlier it acted as "Shanmugha College of Engineering" which was affiliated to the Bharathidasan University and in the year 2001 it got a status of Deemed university and was renamed as SASTRA University.It has sprawling 168 acres of campus. Presently the University chancellor id Mr. Ramchandran and Vice-chancellor is Mr. R. Sethuraman.
It is affiliated by UGC, AICTE, AIU, and NAAC.The University offers various courses in the different discipline like Engineering, Management, Law, Science and education. Its teaching programmes are supported by research engagements. It is accredited by NAAC and got Grade "A", also it has been recognized as scientific and industrial research organization by the government of India. It’s B.tech course is accredited by Institutions of Engineers along with this TATA Consultancy services has accredited the institute with A grade.
Currently, over 12,000 students are studying in the university and it has over 700 teaching faculty catering to these students. Admission is done on the basis of the merit of JEE Mains, 10+2 and through NRI quota. It is currently offering B.Tech in 15 discipline, M.tech in 13 discipline, Integrated Law courses and B.com (Computer Application), M.Sc, MBA, and MCA. Besides this, it also offers research fellowship (P.hD) for its students. It has collaboration with various institutes like AIIMS, American University, CERCI, Deakin University, Google California, IIT-B,IIT-M, IIT-D, National University of Singapore, Plymouth University, Orebro University, Siemens Singapore, Rutgers University, TCS Mumbai, Cambridge University etc
SASTRA University has state of art infrastructure with a well-furnished library, bank, post office, canteen, book-store, laboratories, wi-fi facilities. It also provides a scholarship to the students which are provided by the government of India.
SASTRA University has good placement record, with the companies ranging from e-com to product and services. Some of the top recruiters are ABN Amro, HCL, Wipro, TCS, AREVA, Biocon, Capgemini, Jet Airways, City union bank, Lucas TVS Ltd, Brakes India Ltd, Indian Airlines, ICICI, SIPCOT Technologies. Once TCS recruited around 1500 students at one go.
