Choosing tiles is great fun. However, unless you're buying vintage tiles, you do have to ensure you choose the right retailer so you get high quality and good value. Here's how.

Buying tiles is really exciting isn't it? You've finally decided your wall or your floor will look beautiful with porcelain tiles. Maybe they are designer tiles, or patterned tiles, textured tiles, or colourful tiles. Whatever you have chosen, we are sure they are going to look great. All you need to do is buy the tiles - easy right? Wrong. Although you may strike it lucky and get a great deal with the perfect tiles, the chances are it isn't going to be that easy. Unfortunately there are some pitfalls or issues you need to avoid if you're going to get the best tiles for you, at the best price. Here's how:

Do Some Research And Make Some Decisions

Spend some time doing research before you buy anything. Get a clear idea of the kind of tiles you want, the materials you like, and the kind of price you would like to pay. Have a rough idea of your top and bottom budget, and consider additional costs like installation and application materials (grout, tools etc).

Ignore Fancy Wording And Sales Tactics

Tile dealers may try and sell you basic tiles under fancy names to get you to pay more. Just remember to look for clear information. Don't choose a tile because you like the name, choose it because it is good quality and is right for you. The only area you might pay more for a name is with a designer tile, which is of course up to you.

Honesty

When buying anything, it is great to find honesty in the sales team. Sure they will be positive and trying to sell you things - you cannot take that away from them. But they should also have your best interests at heart and be honest about their products. If they seem to be flogging you any old rubbish - move on.

Aftercare

After you have purchased your tiles you should be assured you will: get them delivered on time, be covered for breakages, and be able to come back to the company for replacements or advice on caring for the tiles in the future.

Deals

There's nothing wrong with getting a good deal, as long as it is a good deal. If tiles are on sale find out why - are they bad quality, hard to replace, undesirable? Perhaps you have been offered the tiles and installation for a good price - are the tiles going to be high quality, are the team installing the tiles qualified? Grab a great deal if you get one, but only if you are sure it is a great deal.

Reputation And Experience

If you can buy from a company your friends and family have been happy with - go for it. They will have a good reputation for a reason. Look for high levels of experience and a good reputation. Look on social media, forums and online directories for impartial reviews.

Remember, you are going to get a good deal. Just spend plenty of time looking around and comparing service and prices. Happy decorating!
