Nowadays, wedding catering services are expected to do more than simply preparing and delivering the food. Not only they manage the wedding reception and dinner timeline, but will also provide some rental equipment such as tableware, crockery, etc. and stock the bar. Do make sure you ask your preferred caterer the below questions before finalizing the deal.

1. Do you have a license?

The caterer should be certified with local health department’s standards and procedures and carry a liability insurance. If you are planning to add liquor too, they should also have a liquor license. For example, if a guest drinks alcohol from the open bar and while walking out the hall injure themselves, other guests, or the hall property, then you will be held responsible.

2. Do you have proven references?

References are important and very useful especially when trying a company or brand for the first time. In this case, some solid references are enough for you to decide whether to trust the food and service quality, accountability, and delivery time of this caterer. Try to get at least two wedding references who had the same reception menu style and number of guests included.

3. Are you specialized in cooking certain types such as organic, ethnic, gluten-free, etc.?

If you want a specific type of cuisine on your big day, then go for a caterer who acquires that specialization rather than a general one. Not only will they have the correct resources present, but will also cook the food providing the exact taste and flavor as you desire. For instance, expecting a sushi chef to cook an Italian Chicken Parmesan isn’t going to work out well at all.

4. Do you have any other wedding or event to serve on the same day?

Its obvious caterers may sometimes stuff their schedule with more than one event on the same day to earn some nice money. This is not an offense, but you have to make sure the attention of the caterer does not get diluted and service is delivered as promised.

5. Does your meal come in full-service?

In addition to the core food preparation, ask the caterer if they will take care of everything from decorating the food table and a bar service to cleanup. These added perks depend on your package plan. If the service solely consists of providing the required food, then you may have to hire additional staff to do such in-reception activities.

6.Do you offer any packages? If yes, then what is the price range?

Keep in mind, a nice chunk of your pocket will run on caterings, so take your time in selecting the most feasible caterer. Ask questions like: Is the cost tagged individually on the food item selected or the caterer offers an all-inclusive rate? How many drinks and appetizers choices comes with a chosen package? Packages can save you a great deal of money, especially when you have a large number of guests to fill your wedding hall. Most packages may include entrée, cold and hot beverages, desserts, appetizers, and wine in some cases. If your selected catering service offers a plethora of different packages, ask for sample menus and figure out which one fits best with your budget and preferences.
