As the weather gets warmer and fete season heads into full swing, we’re looking for ways to show you how to create your carnival fete wear! When it was a bit colder, the design team used loose gem stones to upgrade a cozy sweater into a carnival inspired one! Follow these steps on a plain bra and make it a carnival bra or a heavy crop top. Then, pair it with dark denim shorts and a wedge boot, and you won’t need to worry about looking boring in the fete!

What You’ll Need:

Bra or Heavy Crop Top

Shi'dor Loose Gem Stones

Needle and Thread
  1. Place Shi'dor stones onto the fete wear in your desired pattern. We placed them in a random cluster on one shoulder, but follow your creative instincts. Use different colors, play with placement and have fun with it!
  2. Start sewing! If you find your jewels sinking into the material, place a fabric behind the material and jewels.

That's it! Easy peasy fete wear!

What Makes Me Qualified to Teach You?

I currently live in Babworth which is 30 minutes from both Southwell and Doncaster Racecourses, and am the girlfriend of Racehorse Trainer Scott Dixon who was until this year the youngest trainer in the country.

I have modeled since a very young age enabling me to develop a great understanding of fashion, styling and beauty. I am also a transport manager and manage my father’s recovery company. (A random fact about me which you would never guess is I hold a forklift truck licence and my ADR license which means I can handle dangerous goods - pretty scary stuff. )

I have gone from a sporadic carnival attendee to a regular fixture and I am fully aware that dressing the part can be a minefield! Part and parcel of my new role is to spend almost all my weekends (and often weekdays) at Caribbean events. It isn’t all glamour – I have found myself needing an outfit for every conceivable occasion.

I started my fashion at the races blog Furlong Fashion, as the USA, Australia and Newzealand all have pages dedicated to fashion at the races and there was a gap in the market for a UK version. I feel that the UK has some of the best and most varied fashion in the world from Bright Summer Dresses at Glorious Goodwood to Winter Tweeds at Cheltenham. Since then I have Guest Blogged for the most popular racing fashion page in the USA – fashionattheraces.

In my blog I discuss beauty and fashion advice for creating the perfect ensemble while catching up with a few choice people who I think really got it right. I aim to provide those who may not have been playing mas very often with a little more knowledge and inspiration to help perfect an achievable and affordable elegant look. I also offer personal styling upon request,

My blog is for fashion conscious carnival masqueraders, I hope you take inspiration from my hints and are not alarmed when I approach you to find out ‘who / what’ you are wearing!
