Denims Style Guide For Men, Women

Denim jeans, shirts, skirts never go out of style. However, denims need an update from time to time, especially when there’s a handful of fresh new trends that are influencing the look.

Rohan Seam, Head of Design, American Swan, suggests a few denim looks that can be sported:

Denim looks for men:

• Fashion is definitely getting a makeover but you can never go wrong with a classic pair of jeans. Wear it with a cool graphic tee and canvas shoes and add an edge to your overall look.
• Give your off-duty separates a refreshing look by wearing a medium blue denim jeans. This wash is made to replicate the jeans you’ve had forever, with some artful destruction and expert repairs.
• Distressed jeans are high on the trend game. Flaunt these with a casual printed tee and white sneaks.
• Ripped in all the right places, the messier-the-better jeans make you look chic.

Denim looks for women:

• Add a little flair to your wardrobe with the classic fit jeans made out of comfortable cotton Lycra fabric.
• Amplify your look with cotton Lycra washed denims. With the perfect combination of comfort and stretch, the damaging at knee adds to the rugged denim look. Sport it with any top or shirt for a casual day out look.
• Sport a pair of denims with cool pin tuck detailing at the knee. Team it with a chic crop top or tee for a complete look.

Sarah Witter, Chief Designer of kidswear store One Friday, also has shared tips to make your junior’s style meter go up a few notches in manic monsoon:

• Stock up your children’s wardrobes with light, bright and loose cotton clothes as this is the season for them to wear shorts, skirts, cotton leggings and sun dresses. Try to avoid heavy clothing like denim, synthetic or thick cotton and ditch any layering in the rainy season as this only adds to the muddle.
• If you must use them, pull out those colourful skin-friendly cotton socks for your little ones this season as you will not be able to stop them from playing a lot on wet surfaces in your courtyard or outside. Choose colourful floaters and rubber sandals to go with them to avoid smelly and sweaty feet.

Not only do they dry up easily, they are also comfortable and stylish. Remember to immediately take them off once the children are indoors.

• The monsoon season can be dark or gloomy at times. So, add some zest with bright and multi-coloured raincoats for them or look out for prints with their favourite cartoon characters.
• Make your children wear slightly thicker clothes at night if it has been raining the entire day as the weather is prone to be a bit cooler. You can opt for full-sleeved pyjamas and night suits. If your baby is less than a year old, you can make him/her wear footie pyjamas or rompers.
