While their love for silk sarees makes them wear the opulent heavy drape, they miss the comfort of light weighing cottons that are considered a humble wear, especially on special occasions. Ingenious, born out of this need to cater to class as well as comfort, silk cotton sarees are an answer to women’s current fashion woes. Made from a blend of cotton and silk yarns, these sarees also known as sico sarees are high on aesthetic quality as well as comfort without compromising on either. Arevolution in the handloom world, handloom sarees that are seen as an elegant wedding wear as much as a smart work wear, are highly preferred by women today and have caught the fancy of the weavers all over the country. Some of the popular weaving clusters have taken on weaving latest silk cotton sarees and are successful at it. Some of the trendy sarees that are trending today are:

One such innovation is the more recent Chanderi sico sarees. A right balance of silk and cotton, these sico sarees are known for their sheer texture, light weight and glossy transparency that accounts for their delicate texture. The display of striking motifs such as floral art, peacocks, traditional coins or simple geometric patterns make them truly elegant.

With many colleges and research institutions to its credit, Coimbatore is known to often introduce new innovations in the world of textiles. One such revolutionary innovation is the Coimbatore sico.
