About US Election Debate: During presidential elections in the United States, it has become customary for the main candidates almost always the candidates of the two largest parties, currently the Democratic Party and the Republican Party to engage in a debate.The topics discussed in the debate are often the most controversial issues of the time, and arguably elections have been nearly decided by these debates

Candidate debates are not constitutionally mandated, but it is now considered a de facto election process.The debates are targeted mainly at undecided voters; those who tend not to be partial to any political ideology or party.

Presidential debates are held late in the election cycle, after the political parties have nominated their candidates. The candidates meet in a large hall, often at a university, before an audience of citizens. The formats of the debates have varied, with questions sometimes posed from one or more journalist moderators and in other cases members of the audience.Debates are broadcast live on television and radio.

Monday Septmber 25 - First Presidential DebateTuesday October 4 - Vice Presidential DebateSunday October 9 - Second Presidential DebateWednessday October 19 - Third Presidential Debate

The venues and dates have been already announced for 2016 Presidential debates between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.date for Vice Presidential debate between Mike Pence and Tim Kaine has also been announced. It is important to Note that the broadcast time and Television channels are same for the Presidential and Vice Presidential debates.

Tickets – Tickets for debates will be issued by the hosting university and are very limited since the debates are primarily casted in television. The majority of tickets are distributed to host university students and faculty through a lottery system.

TV Channels – All the debates will be broadcast live on major Channels like C-SPAN, ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC etc.

Debate Details :

First Debate - Presidential Debate

Date : Monday Septmber 25, 2016

Location: Hofstra University (Hempstead, NY)

Time : 9pm to 10:30pm ET, 8pm – 9:30pm CT, 7pm – 8:30pm MT, 6pm – 7:30pm PT (Follow Your TimeZone)

Moderator: Lester Holt, Anchor, NBC Nightly News

First debate will be divided into six segments of which each segment is 15 minutes approximately.The major topics to debate will be selected by the moderator. These Topics will be announced atleast one week before the Debate date. Each section will be open with a question which is asked by a moderator.Each candidate will have two minutes to respond to his questions.

Second Debate - Vice Presidential Debate

Date : Tuesday October 4, 2016

location : Longwood University (Farmville, VA)

Time : 9pm to 10:30pm ET, 8pm – 9:30pm CT, 7pm – 8:30pm MT, 6pm – 7:30pm PT (Follow Your TimeZone)

Moderator : Elaine Quijano, Anchor, CBSN and Correspondent, CBS News

Vice pressidential debate is devided into 9 segments of which each segment is 10 minutes approximately.The debate opens with a question by a moderator for which each vice presidenntial candidate get 2 minutes to respond.

Third debate - Second Presidential Debate

Date : Sunday October 9, 2016

Location : Washington University in St. Louis (St. Louis, MO)

Time : 9pm to 10:30pm ET, 8pm – 9:30pm CT, 7pm – 8:30pm MT, 6pm – 7:30pm PT (Follow Your TimeZone)

Moderators : Martha Raddatz, Chief Global Affairs Correspondent and Co-Anchor of "This Week," ABC and Anderson Cooper, Anchor, CNN

The second presidential debate will be in the form of town meeting. In this debate half of the questions will be posed directly by citizens who participate in the debate and the reamining half will be posed by the moderator based on topics of broad public interest as reflected in social media and other sources.The candidates will have two minutes to respond and one more additional minute will be provided to the moderator to facilitate further discussion. The town meeting participants will be uncommitted voters selected by the Gallup Organization.

Fourth Debate - Third Presidential Debate

Date : Wednessday October 19, 2016

Location : University of Nevada, Las Vegas (Las Vegas, NV)

Time : 9pm to 10:30pm ET, 8pm – 9:30pm CT, 7pm – 8:30pm MT, 6pm – 7:30pm PT (Follow Your TimeZone)

Moderator : Chris Wallace, Anchor, Fox News Sunday

Forth debate will be divided into six segments of which each segment is 15 minutes approximately.The major topics to debate will be selected by the moderator. These Topics will be announced atleast one week before the Debate date. Each section will be open with a question which is asked by a moderator.Each candidate will have two minutes to respond to his questions.

This debate is Identical to the First Presidential Debate.
